MG G50 PHEV gets warm welcome in PH

MANILA: MG (Morris Garages) Motor Philippines has received nearly 1,000 reservations for the G50 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) since last April.

Based on the tally shared, SAIC Motor Philippines Incorporated (SMPI) secured over 800 customers pre-ordered eversince the plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) made its way at the Manila International Auto Show 2026.

Per the SMPI-steered distributor, the pre-orders came from the four-day event as well as with its current 48-strong dealer network nationwide.

With units now arriving in the country, MG Motor Philippines has started releasing the MG G50 PHEV to buyers nationwide. The company said that the initial strong demand highlights the growing interest in new energy vehicles, particularly those that offer both practicality and versatility for everyday use.

“As MG continues to introduce more advanced powertrain options in the local market, the G50 PHEV stands as a key addition to its expanding lineup—offering customers a smart and flexible entry point into electrified driving, complemented by ease of ownership through MG’s growing dealership network and aftersales support,” the firm added.

Among the first units to receive their units were Mauro Cortez (who plans to utilize the vehicle for his furniture business operations) and Reginald Gregorio (who chose the vehicle to better accommodate his family for every day trips).

“This turnover represents an exciting milestone for MG Motor Philippines as we begin delivering the G50 PHEV to our customers,” MG Motor Philippines President Wei Wei Zhang said.

“We are encouraged by the positive response to this model, and we remain committed to providing Filipino motorists with innovative mobility solutions that combine performance, efficiency, and everyday usability,” he added.

Aside from that, Zigwheels Philippines received information that the initial three batches of deliveries for the MG G50 PHEV were already spoken for.

Here’s what the MG G50 PHEV offers to the Philippine market.

Vehicle specifications

Designed to meet the evolving needs of modern families, the MG G50 PHEV is a sound option for those looking to transition into electrified mobility.

Powering the vehicle in front-wheel-drive configuration is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, gasoline-fed engine with an electric motor and an 18.65-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron phosphate battery.

This powertrain configuration can dish out:

Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	280

These numbers are sent to the front wheels via a dedicated hybrid transmission.

Further, the vehicle can cover up to 1,415 kilometers—including the all-electric range of 95 kilometers.

Inside, the vehicle is fitted with the following amenities:

• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Steering column-mounted electronic shifter
• Synthetic leather portions
• Power sunroof
• Keyless entry system
• Wireless charging dock
• Three-row seating with second row captain seats

Additionally, the vehicle has a slew of driver-assistive, safety, and security technologies namely:

• Adaptive cruise control
• Forward collision warning
• Autonomous emergency braking
• Lane departure warning
• Lane keep assist
• Anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist
• Electronic stability program
• Traction control
• Rear parking sensors

Available in Pearl White, Metal Black, and Ash Gray, the MG G50 PHEV can be had for P1,398,888.
