Subaru previews 2024 Impreza before LA Auto show debut

MANILA: Subaru of America recently announced that the all-new 2024 Impreza compact car will make its global debut at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, which will commence November 17.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza hatchback will likely be based on the all-new Subaru Crosstrek crossover that was recently launched in the Japanese market. The hatchback could share a body, engine, and interior design and features with the Crosstrek.

Thanks to the brand's distinctive symmetrical AWD and its small body with a tough and athletic style, the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek offers full-fledged SUV performance, making it a flexible crossover SUV perfect for any driving situation, whether in the city or for outdoor excursions.

Even though the name of the car has fluctuated between "Crosstrek" and "Subaru XV" depending on the market, starting with this third-generation model, the Crosstrek name will be used everywhere.

The previous model's distinctive look has been highlighted and yet the Crosstrek's driving dynamics have also been improved. In addition to having the most recent EyeSight technology, the 2023 Crosstrek is the first Subaru model sold in Japan that has a wide-angle mono camera, improving safety performance.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2022 Subaru Impreza five-door were hailed as 2022 Top Safety Pick Winners.

In order to qualify for a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award, vehicles must receive “Good” ratings in each of IIHS' six crashworthiness evaluations, “Good” or “Acceptable” ratings for headlights, and “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings for available front crash prevention in both vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Only models that have “Good” or “Acceptable” headlights are granted the “Plus.”

Meanwhile, Subaru Corporation celebrated the 50th anniversary of its All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system this year.

In September 1972, Subaru launched its AWD system along with the debut of the Subaru Leone 4WD Estate Van, Japan’s first mass-produced AWD passenger car. Since then, Subaru has manufactured around 21 million AWD vehicles.

Today, 98% of Subaru’s global sales are AWD models, all of which come with the Subaru Symmetrical AWD system with the horizontally opposed Boxer engine. The weight balance of the symmetrical drivetrain and the lower center of gravity provided by the Boxer engine enhances traction and stability, delivering exceptional performance in any road and weather condition.
