Subaru unveils all-new Uncharted EV

MANILA: Subaru has officially unveiled the Uncharted all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV). It isn’t quite out yet, but it is due for the United States in 2026. 

To note, the Subaru Uncharted is representative of Subaru’s partnership with Toyota. In fact, the two Japanese brands have co-developed the all-new electric vehicle (EV), leveraging each other’s expertise and technical know-how. 

So, what is the Subaru Uncharted like? What are its key features? Let’s find out here. 

Exterior

For its styling, Subaru has highlighted the Uncharted EV’s fastback rear end coupled with a seamless front design. Additionally, the model also received a “high contrast” two-tone paint job, specifically a black-colored roof. The aforementioned elements complement its black plastic claddings, as well as its similarly colored bumpers and side mirrors. 

As the Japanese brand shared, the look of the all-new nameplate has achieved a good balance between sporty and outdoorsy. And from the design alone, one can see some shades of the Toyota C-HR revealed in Europe, which is further evidence of the two Japanese brands' collaborative efforts on the all-new Uncharted. 

To note, the model will come in three distinct trims: the Premium FWD, mid-spec Sport, and the top-of-the-line GT. The GT, in particular, will have the following exterior features: 

• Power panoramic sunroof
• 20-inch alloy wheels
• Two-tone paint (optional)

Depending on the trim, the Subaru Uncharted will likewise come with low-profile roof rails and a power tailgate. 

Interior

Inside the Subaru Uncharted is a neatly arranged cockpit sporting a straight-cut dashboard. It appears minimalist, but according to pictures from Subaru, it incorporates a combination of leather upholstery, soft-touch surfaces, and contrast-colored trim pieces. 

Some noteworthy amenities inside the Uncharted include a flat bottom and top steering wheel, a dial-type gear selector, and two wireless smartphone charging pads. For screens, the model comes standard with a 14-inch infotainment display and an 11-piece Harman Kardon speaker set. The driver also has access to the following features:

• Digital gauge cluster
• Push-to-start button
• Electronic parking brake
• Drive mode selector
• Power-adjustable driver’s seat
• Leather steering wheel with heating
• Keyless entry

Safety

For now, Subaru has yet to reveal the full list of safety equipment present on the Uncharted EV. The brand, however, did indicate that the model comes standard with EyeSight driver assist technologies, the DriverFocus distraction mitigation system, a blind-spot monitor, and a 360-degree view camera. 

Powertrain

As mentioned above, the Subaru Uncharted will be available in three different trims, each with varying EV setups as shown below:

Regardless of the differences shown on the table above, all versions utilize a 74.4 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack, a NACS charging port, and a direct current fast charging capability that can fill up its battery from 10-80 percent in just 30 minutes. 

Availability

To reiterate, the US will be getting first dibs on the Subaru Uncharted. So, until then, the brand has yet to unveil any pricing details for the all-new EV SUV.
