The Leaf lands: Nissan’s flagship full-electric car now available in PH
MANILA: Nissan Philippines has officially released its flagship full-electric vehicle (EV), the Nissan Leaf. Along with the EV’s launch, Nissan has revealed that it is establishing seven charging stations across the country through its dealerships.
The development of the zero-emission Nissan Leaf is part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a program that aims to transform the way cars are driven and integrated into society. The Nissan Leaf concretizes this philosophy in three aspects: Intelligent Power, Intelligent Driving, and Intelligent Integration.
The Nissan Leaf comes with a 40kWh lithium-ion battery can travel up to 311 kilometers on a full charge according to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards. This makes the car able to travel between Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City twice a day for five days or complete a one-way trip to Baguio without having to recharge.
The vehicle is powered by an all-electric e-powertrain that generates a maximum output of 110kW or 150ps and 320Nm of torque. The Nissan Leaf can accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in 7.9 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 140kph.
Nissan also makes it convenient to recharge its full battery EV model. The Nissan Leaf can be fully powered up in 15 to 18 hours at home using a dedicated wall outlet with the supplied universal charging cable. Select Nissan dealerships are also equipped with quick charging stations where Nissan Leaf owners can fully power up their unit in as fast as 40 to 60 minutes.
The Nissan Leaf features an e-pedal that allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, and stop the vehicle by using only one pedal, depending on the pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is fully released, regenerative and friction brakes are automatically applied, making the car completely stop. This feature makes the Nissan Leaf convenient for city traffic as it reduces the need to shift from one pedal to another.
To provide more confidence and peace of mind to the driver, the Nissan Leaf is equipped with intelligent driving assistance features including intelligent cruise control, intelligent around view monitor, high beam assist, hill start assist, intelligent emergency braking, intelligent driver alertness, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, intelligent lane intervention, and intelligent trace control.
The Nissan Leaf features a stylish design accentuated by its two-tone body, an iconic floating roof, EV Blue accents, and a V-Motion grille. On the inside, the car is designed with a spacious seating layout for up to five people.
The Nissan Leaf also comes with vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology that allows bi-directional charging. The energy from the Leaf can be used to power homes and equipment or give back energy to the power grid.
In a statement, Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Atsushi Najima said, “Finally bringing the Nissan Leaf to the Philippines is a high point in our efforts throughout the years to inform and educate the Filipino public on the benefits of EV adoption. The Nissan Leaf is key to realizing our vision of enriching Filipino lives towards a more connected, sustainable, and resilient society.”
Nissan ASEAN Regional Vice President Isao Sekiguchi stated, “The Nissan Leaf's launch in the Philippines is the latest chapter in our electrification strategy in ASEAN. This is part of Nissan's DNA of daring to do what others don't as we make electrified mobility more accessible to the people in the region.”
Every purchase of the Nissan Leaf includes a three-year or 100,000-km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000-km battery warranty.
The Nissan Leaf is exclusively available at Nissan Mantrade Makati, Nissan Otis, and Nissan Cebu South–V. Rama. These dealerships are equipped with EV charging systems for Nissan Leaf owners. Nissan is set to open four more charging stations in select dealerships within this year. It is priced at P2.798 million.
