The New Volkswagen Passat GTE is Here

MANILA: Seems the GTI version of the beloved Volkswagen Passat large family car is not something what is in the mind of German brand but they are playing offbeat to introduce the GTE version of it, which would offer 218 PS from combination of petrol and electricity. Originally revealed in September at 2014 Paris Motor Show, the new Passat GTE has finally arrived in the German markets.

The standard U-shaped ring of LED lights along with chrome trims on the side windows are there. The distinct grille with blue accents which flows into the headlights are something on the exterior front. The interior indeed has comfortable seats with plush feel and from the safety point of view there are bunch of systems like a rain sensor, Automatic Post-Collision Braking, Park Pilot for front and rear, City Emergency Braking function, and Driver Alert System.

This mid-size model comes with 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged engine spurting out 156 PS of power. This is combined with a 115 PS electric motor and gives a total of 218 PS of power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. Coming to the prices, the unbeaten Passat GTE is not expensive to buy as it starts from €44,250 or €45,250 that means you pay €6,000 more for this green technology.
