Toyota C-HR Production Model to debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show
Manila: Toyota Motors Europe has officially confirmed that the much-anticipated C-HR crossover from the company will debut in its production version at the upcoming 2016 Geneva Motor show next month. The car was earlier showcased at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in its concept skin, also Toyota earlier reported the arrival of C-HR in 2016, but now its debut is officially confirmed at Geneva. Sources report that the Toyota C-HR crossover will be made available in a European-built hybrid powertrain, but it is not yet certain that it will be the only available powertrain in C-HR..
Johan van Zyl, Toyota Motor Europe president and CEO, said: "We are entering the C-segment crossover market with a fantastic product and with a hybrid powertrain from the start".
He further added that for Europe, the all-new Toyota C-HR will be built at its Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT) production facility located in Sakarya, Turkey. However, the hybrid powertrain will not be manufactured at this facility. According to the sources, this particular hybrid engine will be built at Toyota's Manufacturing unit in UK located in Deeside, Wales. Also, the power output from Toyota C-HR is not confirmed because of the uncertainties over partial or full hybrid unit.
Alongside the Toyota C-HR, 2016 Geneva Motor Show has a wide array of upcoming launches. The Geneva Motor Show this year will also witness C-HR's fellow crossover Audi Q2, whose poster was leaked ahead of its debut recently. Apart from it, the Geneva show will also witness exquisite showcases like the Hypercar Centenario LP 770-4 from Italian house of innovation Lamborghini and the Bond celebrity edition of Aston Martin's DB9 GT.
Toyota is a well-celebrated manufacturer in terms of Hybrid powertrains. The widely loved Toyota Prius is a common household name when we talk about hybrid cars. Thus, we can expect the C-HR to do equal wonders around the globe. Reports suggest that the five-door C-HR CUV will ride on Toyota's New Global Architecture, which is also used by the all new Prius. With a speculated hybrid powertrain, the all-new C-HR will go against the likes of Nissan Juke and Honda HR-V in the Philippines auto market.
