Toyota FT-1 Concept To Be Showcased At PIMS 2016

MANILA: After confirming the launch of new Prius and showcase of 86, here is another news coming from the house of Toyota. This time it is related to a concept, named FT-1 which will be showcased at the PIMS 2016 from tomorrow. The news is confirmed from the official tweet made by Toyota Philippines with a teaser image of the FT-1 concept. According to Toyota, the FT-1 concept is an ultimate expression in coupe design which is inspired from the prominent models like Celica, 2000GT, Supra, MR2 and 86.

The ducting, vents, sharp lines, curves and aggressive styling clearly indicates that this concept is designed to push the limits to next level. With the collaboration of Calty Design and Gran Turismo developer, Polyphony Digital, the FT-1 concept has been designed and also made available in the Gran Turismo 6 game. To improve the weight distribution, the cabin is placed slightly back, and features classic front-engine and rear wheel drive configuration. Considering the wrap around windshield, the manufacturer has paid homage to the 2000GT of the 1960s, which was a sensation of its time.

Inside the cabin, you will find steering wheel inspired from F1 and seats placed as low as ground. To give driver a better cornering vision, the A-pillars are placed back and a heads up display is their to give telemetry information along with other information related to the drive. It is speculated that FT-1 concept will be the basis of next generation Supra but, we need to wait till the company reveals further information related to the concept which will be at Toyota’s booth from September 14-18.
