Toyota Land Cruiser 200: Features explained

The Toyota Land Cruiser is pretty much the benchmark when It comes to rugged and luxurious SUVs. They have stood the tests of time across deserts just as well as city streets. The newest version of the Toyota Land Cruiser, known as the Land Cruiser 200 has been in the Philippines since 2017. The leather is also appointed on the dashboard, shift lever, and steering wheel. Faux wood trim goes very well with the brushed silver accents on the dashboard. But without a doubt, the biggest draw on the dashboard is the large TFT touchscreen display. The Premium model makes full use of this with a smart navigation system. The Premium variant also comes equipped with auto 4-zone air conditioning and a 6- speaker audio system combined with effortless connectivity with your phone. Then there are all the things that come with the territory of having a large SUV at your disposal. 

Powerful engine:

The engine powering the land Cruiser 200 is the tried and tested 1VD-FTV 4.5-litre common rail, twin turbo, direct injection V8 diesel. It produces 232 hp at 3200 rpm and 615 Nm of torque between 1800 and 2200 rpm. The power is sent to all 4 wheels through a six-speed automatic sequential transmission. But being appointed to such a large vehicle means that this engine only delivers 5-6 kmpl on city and around 11 kmpl in highway conditions. This engine then is from a simpler time and with rising concerns about reducing emissions might not be long in this world. Thankfully for now it is Euro 4 compliant and still has no trouble in sending this massive SUV cruising at high speeds.

Onboard safety and electronics:

The sheer size of an SUV is not indicative of its safety. And the Toyota Land Cruiser specs sheet comes with many features to ensure the safety of its passengers. Driver and passenger, front side and front knee airbags are standard as are ABS with EBD and brake assist. The premium variant comes equipped with vehicle stability control, active traction control, hill-start assist control, crawl control and Multi-Terrain Select for rock, rock & dirt, mogul, loose rock and mud & sand. Along with Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), these will ensure that you always have the most comfortable drive no matter what surface you are driving on.

These features are really the cherry on the cake that is the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser has been one of the most trusted names in the business for the longest time now. It faces some tough competition from today’s modern SUVs. It misses out on some of the more modern features and costs quite a bit of money. But for real off-road ability, while being cocooned in absolute luxury, the Land Cruiser is a gold standard that is never going to be out of fashion.
