Toyota lays out adjusted production plans in wake of parts shortage

MANILA: Toyota Motor Corporation has expressed its apology for the numerous changes in its production plans as a result of the parts shortage caused by the spread of COVID-19, as well as for causing inconvenience to its customers, suppliers, and other parties.

For June, the global production target is around 850,000 units (250,000 units in Japan and 600,000 units overseas). From June to August, the average global production plan is around 850,000 units, with a total of 9.7 million units planned for fiscal year 2023. Although the shortage of semiconductors, the spread of COVID-19, and other factors make forecasting difficult, Toyota vowed to continue making every effort to deliver as many vehicles to its customers as soon as possible.

Toyota decided to suspend operations in Japan in May and June because of the parts supply shortages caused by the Shanghai lockdown.
