Toyota makes U12 football video instruction available online for free
MANILA: Toyota Motor Asia Pacific made an announcement regarding the “Toyota Football for Tomorrow (TFFT)" initiative, the brand's corporate social responsibility (CSR) project across Southeast Asia to develop opportunities for the youth to create, explore, and attain the prospects of tomorrow.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will lead the activities of TFFT in the country to aid Filipino youth in developing their football potential.
The “Toyota Football for Tomorrow” project empowers young people with football skills to experience the joy and excitement of "moving as one." This initiative has also drawn inspiration from the vision of Toyota to offer freedom of mobility for everyone.
Since football is not considered a new sport in Southeast Asia, Toyota has been holding football clinics since 2013. TFFT targets the standardization of football clinics in the region to bring high-quality and continuous training.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Toyota began the TFFT training video series to maintain the youth’s motivation and retain their football skills in a positive and interactive digital environment.
Strategies and drills like goal keeping skills and ball control (turning, passing, and dribbling) included in the TFFT football clinic curriculum will be featured in a five-part virtual training video series for the under-12 age group.
The videos, which should be practiced under the supervision of a guardian or parent, will include famous coaches as well as former Japanese national football players Motohiro Yamaguchi and Seigo Narazaki, among others, from Nagoya Grampus.
Seigo Narazaki is the iconic national goal keeper who was the representative of Japan from 1998 to 2010. He was the first goal keeper in football history to obtain the coveted “Most Valuable Player” award in 2010 from the Japan Professional Football League.
Motohiro Yamaguchi, who currently manages the Nagoya Grampus FC Academy as its Executive Officer, aided Japan in being eligible for the first time in the World Cup in 1998 with his midfielder expertise.
Executive Officer (Football Supervisor) of Nagoya Grampus FC Academy Motohiro Yamaguchi explained, “Together with Toyota, Nagoya Grampus has conducted football clinics in this region, and we are thrilled to share our coaching expertise and skills such as dribbling, passing and others in this online video series. We hope that we can continue to share the joys of football and be a source of motivation for youth to confidently explore practical solutions to challenge themselves, even at the comfort of your own homes.”
Toyota Motor Asia Pacific General Manager for Corporate Communications and CSR Department Kaye Lim shared, “Toyota has been giving back to the community through football for years. It is a game that connects people and we believe it offers tremendous value to the youth. Despite the ongoing pandemic, we remain committed to communities we serve. That’s why we’re taking TFFT online, so the youth can keep their soccer skills up, practicing in and around their homes, coached by world-class players and experts.”
Toyota Motor Philippines Marketing Services Department Vice President Elijah Marcial added, “We are excited to roll out TFFT in the Philippines. TMP has originally planned to run football clinics across the country this year, but with safety and health as our top priorities, we opted to reschedule until such a time we can safely conduct physical sports again.”
