Toyota PH lends 47 vehicles to pandemic frontliners

MANILA: There’s a saying that goes, “The business of business should not be about money. It should be about responsibility. It should be about public good, not private greed.”

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has been embodying that creed throughout its years of operation here. Now, under the leadership of new president Atsuhiro Okamoto, TMP reached out to various local government units (LGUs) and their respective disaster risk reduction and management offices, health offices, and city transport heads with the intention of dispatching as many vehicles as possible to increase the mobility of frontline workers who are desperately needed on various fronts.

Upon learning of this initiative, hospitals and doctors got in touch with TMP and connected them to online groups who were also looking for mobility solutions.

Currently, TMP has lent out 47 units (and it's not done yet) to the following hospitals and LGUs:

• Philippine General Hospital
• Ospital ng Makati
• East Avenue Medical Center
• Mary Johnston Hospital in Manila
• Binangonan Lakeview Hospital
• Unihealth Parañaque Hospital and Medical Center
• City Government of Santa Rosa / Santa Rosa Community Hospital
• City of Manila Manila / Mayor Isko Moreno
• Navotas City DRRMO

These units include the Vios, Innova, Fortuner, Rush, Hiace, RAV4, FJ Cruiser, among others.

To ensure the safety of TMP personnel and the frontline workers, TMP has already placed sanitation, safety, and health protocols in place for the handling of each vehicle.

The duration of the lendouts has temporarily been set until April 15, 2020, the day after the enhanced community quarantine ends, but should the need arise, an extension can be easily facilitated.

As of today, TMP continues to reach out to more LGUs and hospitals in order to address their mobility problems.

We have coordinated with various LGUs and government hospitals to lend our company vehicles for the daily transportation of health workers. Rest assured that we are doing the best we can, even in small ways. I hope that with our combined efforts, and everyone doing their part, we can fight Covid-19!
