Volvo wins 2025 Sandy Myhre award from WWCOTY

MANILA: Volvo was hailed as the winner of the prestigious 2025 Sandy Myhre Award from the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY). 

The Swedish car maker was chosen to win the award by the WWCOTY’s all-female lineup of judges consisting of 82 motoring journalists from 55 countries.

For the unaware, the Sandy Myhre Award is named after the founder of the WWCOTY. It honors car brands with a strong commitment to gender inclusivity in product design, safety, advertising, and the workplace. 

The Swedish marque was also noted for its pioneering usage of accurate female crash test dummies, as well as the development of the world’s first virtual pregnant crash test dummy. The aforementioned was integrated by the marque into its crash simulations in 2002.

In the Philippine market, Volvo, under the distributorship of Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), currently offers the following models:

• EX30
• C40
• S90
• XC60
• XC40
• XC90

The latest among the said models is the EX30 - a subcompact electric vehicle equipped with a comprehensive selection of advanced driver-assist systems and creature comforts. Pricing for the Volvo EX30 is set at P2.99 million.

Examples of its features include sustainably sourced Pixel Knit and Nordico fabrics, a 12.3-inch central display, built-in Google apps, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, a wireless smartphone charging tray, and a flat-bottom leather steering wheel - among others. 

Its exterior, meanwhile, was kitted out with full LED lighting fixtures, including the Volvo signature “Thor’s Hammer LED headlamps,” a set of 19-inch geometric wheels, black plastic claddings, a panoramic sunroof, and an eye-catching two-tone look.
