W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Seen Undisguised

MANILA: The German automobile manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is currently keeping busy in developing its next-generation E-Class, W213, which is said to be debuted at next year's Detroit Auto Show. The sight of W213 E-Class prototype is common to eyes and it continues now as an entire fleet of almost 100 pre-production units of W213 seen parked in open. While the majority of the cars were blanketed, few were all uncovered to give a clear view.

All prototypes appeared with standard wheelbase version, making long wheelbase scene out of the picture. The car is said to be based on a Modular Rear-wheel drive Architecture (MRA) platform, which was the same used by the W205 C-Class and W222 S-Class as well. Occupying space in between the W205 C-Class and W222 S-Class, the W213 reflects styling patterns from both these models. Now, that makes it look like larger C-Class and smaller S-Class.

Although, the below attached video only shows the skin or profile of the car but some earlier spy shots have revealed the front-end of the car before only. The W213 E-Class is quite akin to the C-Class with the difference in grille pattern depending on the variant (Exclusive, Avantgarde). The rear resembles the W222 where the same taillight pattern is visible.

Talking about the interiors, the E-Class dashboard and the middle ground positioning continues here while instead of two LCD screens, there is just one located near the middle of the dash to facilitate the COMAND infotainment system and the rest of car's function. The conventional analogue instrument binnacle is improved here.

Well, the brand has spoken volume about the technologies that are expected to make their way into the next-generation E-Class. These updates include Multi-beam adaptive LED headlight technology featuring an expanded diode count from 24 to 84. Smart phone integration is also touched upon, allowing the pocket device to serve as key and thus guide the car in the parking area through remote parking pilot function.

The safety technologies like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) also get a bump up while other new autonomous driving bits include Distance Pilot Distronic and uprated Pre-Safe system. Talking about any other detail of this new W213 E-Class, the information will be surfaced once it is globally debuted the next year.
