WATCH: Ioniq 5 V2L tech is star of Hyundai’s new social campaign

MANILA: Hyundai Motor UK has launched a new social campaign wherein the Ioniq 5's Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology was used to generate an act of kindness in support of the company's vision of "Progress for Humanity."

Last May, Hyundai Motor UK held a public poll where social users chose one of three acts to showcase the technology of the Ioniq 5. Following the vote, Innocean UK produced "Electric Acts of Kindness," which focuses on explaining V2L and how the Ioniq 5 can be used to power different electronic devices and lifestyles.

Two films featured street performers Sherika at Crate St James' in Walthamstow and Genevieve at God's Own Junkyard. Ioniq 5 appears in the films to power various devices, including amps, speakers, an electric guitar, and a confetti machine. The vehicle only consumed 10% of its battery to power the performances over a five-hour period and no modifications were done to the car aside from the equipment used.

Teasers were posted on Twitter and Instagram Stories at the start of June, with final films encouraging viewers to learn more about the campaign and its revolutionary use of V2L technology.

In a statement, Hyundai Motor UK Managing Director Ashley Andrew said, “Ioniq 5 has set the benchmark for both design and real-world electric vehicle usability and by using V2L technology with Electric Acts of Kindness we can highlight the breadth of adaptability Ioniq 5 brings to powering lives.”

The Ioniq 5 is the first vehicle based on Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated BEV platform, the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It has won the overall title and a category award for Best Family Car at the UK Car of the Year Awards, adding to a long list of accolades received since its debut in 2021.

Customers can charge any electronic device with the Ioniq 5's groundbreaking V2L technology. With a port under the second-row seats and a converter on the external charging port, the V2L function can offer up to 3.6 kW of power.
