Welcome the new Ingenium inline-6 engine by Jaguar Land Rover
MANILA: The Ingenium engine series has a new member. Developed at the Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, U.K., a facility set up by Jaguar Land Rover with an investment of £ 1 billion (roughly Php 67.6 billion),
the new engine is an inline-6 gasoline motor. It is very much capable of producing a maximum power of 365 to 406 PS and a peak torque of 495 to 550 Nm.
Set to power the Range Rover Sport as its first vehicle, the new engine is both a better performer and more efficient than the V6 it will be replacing. What makes this new inline-6 an exclusivity is the presence of an electric supercharger accompanied by both Continuous Variable Valve Lift and a twin-scroll turbocharger. This combination not only makes the engine more efficient but the power rating goes up too.
Moreover, coming to rescue of the lost power is an electric motor assisting this engine and thus, forming a Mild Hybrid combo. The motor coupled with inline-6 is designated to assist the engine along with harvesting the energy lost during deceleration. The manufacturer has cited that the production of this new inline-six will take place in conjunction with the 4-pot gas and diesel mills.
Till the time this motor is housed inside the Range Rover Sport, why don’t you check out the Land Rover Philippines lineup? There are a few amazing SUVs which might just be what you’re looking for!
