Will Ford bring the fourth-gen Focus sedan to the Philippines?

MANILA: During its tenure in the Philippines, the Ford Focus has had a mixed bag. While the sedan hasn’t been a total flop, it did not turn out to be the best-seller either. The automobile space was quite excited when the Ford Focus sedan made its way to the Philippine shores as not only the American sedan possessed a European flair but was also the first diesel-fed sedan that had an automatic gearbox on offer. With the passage of time, the excitement has long faded and the sales figures haven’t been extraordinary.

While we still have the old-gen model, Ford has already launched the fourth-generation Focus sedan in some markets. The all-new Focus sedan boasts a “coke-bottle” design at the rear arches and shows off its own identity when looked from the side and back. Upfront though, the sedan looks more or less like the hatchback. Talking more about the front fascia of the sedan, there are upswept LED headlamps with in-built LED DRLs. Both the bonnet and the front bumper flaunt some really enticing cuts and creases. At the rear, a pair of wraparound taillamps complete the sedan’s look.

A black honeycomb pattern, subtle skirt, and an integrated diffuser along with a trunk lip spoiler provide the ST-Line model with that much-needed muscle. On the other hand, there is also the Focus Titanium sedan that features a much calmer & exquisite feel, both on the outside and the inside. A 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine serves the Ford Focus sedan’s ST-Line trim. This powerhouse is capable of producing 180 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 244 Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission takes care of the power delivery to the wheels.

We know you are already allured by the fourth-generation Ford Focus sedan, right? However, it is all up to the American automaker to bring the sedan to the Philippines. With numerous Japanese sedans ruling the Philippine roads, we believe Ford should give the Focus sedan another shot in the country.
