BYD Atto 2, Seal 5 DM-i
The former, which was previewed at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show, is available in two powertrain options. The electric vehicle (EV) variant uses a single permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a 41.1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery to dish out 174 horsepower (hp) and 290 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque with a range of 380 kilometers (km).
On the other hand, the BYD Atto 2’s hybrid version uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a 7.9 kWh battery. It clocks in at 162 hp and 300 Nm with an EV-only range of 45 km and an extended range of 1,045 km.
Meanwhile, the latter — fitted with the fifth-generation Super DM-i technology, which promises more efficiency and a more predictive energy management — pushes 161 hp and 210 Nm. It has a 55-km all-electric range and an extended range that was boosted from 1,100 km to 1,600 km.
The following are their entry price points:
- BYD Atto 2: P1.048 million
- BYD Seal 5 DM-i: P948,000
GAC GN6, E8 HEV, GN8 PHEV
GAC Philippines also had a bunched-up launch, which clustered its multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) — aimed at different market segments.
The GAC GN6 is aimed at the basic Filipino family and is touted as the all-scenario MPV. It packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that generates some 174 hp and 270 Nm.
Meanwhile, the GAC E8 HEV targets the mid-to-premium market. This model gets a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission to put out 138 horses and 180 Nm of pulling power. The electric motor used by the MPV makes 179 hp and 300 Nm.
Finally, the GAC GN8 PHEV Executive is the people mover built for the boss. This vehicle is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged Miller cycle engine supported by a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission to make 373 hp and 630 Nm.
Here are their respective price tags:

Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS, 911 Turbo S
Under the hood, the 30th Anniversary Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS uses a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer engine paired with an electric motor between the compressor and turbine wheel, as well as in the new, more powerful eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It makes 533 hp and 610 Nm of torque.
On the other hand, the returning Porsche 911 Turbo S now packs a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer engine, twin electrically assisted turbochargers, and an integrated electric motor within the eight-speed transmission system. This results in 701 hp and 800 Nm.
VinFast E-Motorcycles

Upcoming models
We are anticipating two new models for the month of August, and both of them are electrified.
To kick things off, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is poised to send out the Outlander PHEV. It packs a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors (front and rear) and uses the Mitsubishi Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) that can adjust torque and vehicle dynamics to provide optimal traction across varied driving conditions.
Its plug-in hybrid system makes the below numbers:
|
Electric motors maximum output (in hp) |
114 (front), 134 (rear) |
|
Electric motor peak torque (in Nm) |
255 (front), 195 (rear) |
|
Internal combustion engine output (in hp) |
131 |
|
Internal combustion engine torque (in Nm) |
195 |
On the other hand, MG Philippines shared that it will release the S5 EV in August. The all-electric hatch uses a rear-wheel drive format with an electric motor that makes 167 hp and 250 Nm.
It has an all-electric range of 415 km thanks to its 49 kWh battery. What seems to separate it from other models is its drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.28. For comparison’s sake, a crossover is at Cd 0.36 while sedans are at Cd 0.32.
Other model, brand-centric stories
In other news, the updated BYD Seal 5 DM-i was able to cover some 1,340.1 km on a single full tank. The achievement was validated by the Automobile Association of the Philippines, cementing its place as a fuel-efficient model.
Further, the Philippine-specification Ford Territory Hybrid was hailed by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated (CAMPI) as the best-selling hybrid sport utility vehicle with sales of 4,405 units from its launch in August 2025.
Tesla has emerged as the best-selling battery electric vehicle brand in the Philippines for June 2026, according to CAMPI. On that note, Tesla Philippines sold 984 units in June.
