2019 Yamaha XSR 155 launched in Thailand, costs around Php 155,155

MANILA: The arrival of the 2019 Yamaha XSR155 was a no brainer, and we expected the retro-looking modern-day motorcycle to hit the Indonesian roads before making its way to other markets. However, instead of Indonesia, the Japanese two-wheeler expert has launched the all-new XSR155 in Thailand. Inspired from the Yamaha XSR 700 and 900 models, the much smaller XSR155 features a retro-style design language, albeit with latest up-to-date technology.

With its XSR series, Yamaha targets at the Honda’s Neo Sports Café lineup. While the bigger XSR 700 and 900 lock horns with the CB1000R and  CB650R, the all-new Yamaha XSR155 will take on the Honda CB150R. Honda doesn't offer the smaller CB150R in the Philippines yet, which in turn will make it easy for Yamaha to clinch on to the sales. Having a look at the specs of the all-new Yamaha XSR155, the Japanese commuter gets LED lighting all-round including LED headlights, taillights, and turn signals. Then there is the all-digital LCD instrument panel that displays various readings and alerts.

Moving on, the Yamaha XSR155 weighs 134-kg and features a seat height of 810 mm along with a 10-litre fuel tank. The suspension setup on the retro-inspired motorcycles comprises of a pair of upside-down forks up front and a mono-shock with adjustable for preload at the rear.

There are 17-inch wheels with a 110/70 tyre up front and a 140 section tyre at the rear. Both the wheels get a disc brake assembly for enhanced braking performance. Powering the XSR155 is the same 155cc motor that we have already seen on the MT-15 and YZF-R15 models. The mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox and generates 19.3 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 14.7 Nm.

Yamaha is offering the all-new XSR155 in Silver & Brown, White & Red, Matte Black & Military Green finishes. For the Thai market, two-wheeler gets a price tag of ฿ 91,500 (around Php 155,155). Will we get the Yamaha XSR155 in the Philippines? Well, time will tell.
