KEY TAKEAWAYS
Where was the hearing conducted?
The hearing was conducted at LTO's Intelligence and Investigation Division office. How long will the suspension for the involved's license be suspended?
Their licenses are suspended for 90 days. The said probe was spurred by the alleged violations incurred by the participants, as well as the reported fatalities brought by the endurance race.
Of the 26 riders named in the previously issued show cause orders, only 10 appeared for the proceedings at the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Division office.
According to LTO, all of the abovementioned 26 riders have been issued a 90-day license suspension pending the completion of the ongoing investigation. Additionally, their motor vehicles are required to be surrendered to the bureau’s regional offices where they are residents, for thorough inspection to verify compliance with vehicle standards and check for unauthorized accessories.
“We acknowledge the cooperation of the riders who attended today’s hearings. However, we emphasize that compliance with regulatory proceedings is mandatory for all parties involved. The temporary license suspension and vehicle inspection are necessary steps to ensure accountability and uphold road safety standards while we continue to gather and evaluate all evidence related to the alleged violations — including overspeeding, obstruction of traffic, use of unauthorized equipment, and reckless driving,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao was quoted as saying.
Summoned participants who failed to attend the hearing — the agency pointed out — will be treated as a waiver of their rights to respond, and the matter will be submitted for resolution.

Further, the agency has recommended the cancellation of the BOSS Ironman motorcycle challenge, with Lacanilao citing that the endurance race is no longer about promoting local travel.
