Moovr launches bike-sharing service in Makati CBD

MANILA: Moovr, the first bicycle and e-scooter sharing company in the Philippines, will now serve the Makati Central Business District (CBD) starting this November.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Moovr?

Moovr PH is a bicycle and electric scooter rental service. It aims to serve those who need short-distance transport.

So far, Moovr PH said it has 55 bicycles in the area. The company plans to roll out e-scooters soon.
  • Through the Moovr app, users who need "micro-mobility" for short distances can rent the company's bikes and e-scooters. The service was first launched in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

"With many short-distance trips taking place in Makati every day, Moovr provides a sustainable option that lets people beat the city traffic and move with ease," the company said in a release.

Moovr expands to the city as more bike lanes are installed along Ayala Avenue and in Legaspi and Salcedo Villages, the company said. Meanwhile, bike ramps in the Makati City underpasses have also been built.

The launch of Moovr in Makati is made in partnership with Ayala Land.

During the virtual media roundtable discussion of the launch, Founder and CEO of Moovr Anna Moncupa pleasantly noted that the city shares Moovr's goal of providing alternative modes of transport.

Moovr in MakatiCurrently, there are 11 Moovr Hubs in the city and 55 bicycles in total, while e-scooters will be rolled out soon, Moncupa added.

In Q4 of this year, new Moovr bike stations will be installed in areas of Legaspi Village to make way for the Bike-and-Dine initiatives in Makati Al Fresco parklets, the company added.

Both the company and Ayala Land look optimistic for the bike sharing app's uptake in the area.

Around 1,500 to 2,000 cyclists have been observed plying the Ayala Avenue, Ayala Land Estate Development Manager Shiella Aguilar shared during the roundtable.
