Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 to reach PH market?

MANILA: Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH) is set to launch a new Gixxer model soon and it would likely be the SF155.

Such a speculation was based on the invitation sent to Zigwheels Philippines, showing a silhouette of a fully-faired sports motorcycle covered in smoke.

Per SPH, the motorcycle that will be unveiled soon will have its public debut on October 13.

The assumption also serves as a strong possibility as it is the only offering in the Gixxer line that has yet to enter the local market.

Aesthetics

In India, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 measures 2,025 millimeters (mm) long; 715 mm wide; and 1,035 mm tall — with a 1,340-mm wheelbase and 165-mm ground clearance. It is also seven kilograms heavier than its street-sport bike sibling (given that it has more fairings).

Its front and rear illumination, which provides a distinction to the Gixxer models, are all on LED.

Giving the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 its Hayabusa-esque look are the following:

• Beak-like front fascia
• Fairings with Japanese character decals
• Rear tire hugger
• Split seat
• Twin muffler set-up

In between the India-retailed Suzuki Gixxer SF 155’s clip-on handlebars is the digital gauge cluster with Suzuki Ride Connect feature, which lets riders link their smartphones via Bluetooth. With the said function, the two-wheeler’s screen displays:

• Call and message alerts and notifications
• Phone battery display
• Speed exceeding alert
• Navigation, and estimated time of arrival updates

Performance

Powering the Suzuki Gixxer SF155 is a 155-cubic centimeter four-cycle, single cylinder, single overhead cam, air-cooled, fuel injected gasoline engine that can deliver 14 horses and 13.8 Newton-meters. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.  

Facilitating the stops and slowdowns are the front and rear disc brakes.

Meanwhile, the Suzuki Gixxer SF155’s telescopic and swing arm suspension system (for the front and rear, respectively) provides riders a comfortable journey.

Price estimate

If and when it enters the market, the price for the Suzuki Gixxer SF155 is north of P105,000 as its Gixxer 155 is already pegged at P104,900.
