Will Honda introduce the Winner R to PH?

Newly-issued homologation documents feed assumption

Will Honda introduce the Winner R to PH?

MANILA: Honda Philippines Incorporated (HPI) may soon widen its lineup with the possible introduction of the Winner R in the local market.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the top speed of the Honda Winner R?

In Cambodia, the Honda Winner R is said to be able to reach a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour.
  • What is the engine of the Honda Winner R?

The Honda Winner R uses a 149.1-cubic centimeter, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-valve double overhead cam engine.
  • The speculation stems from the numerous homologation documents that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) released.

    Other stories:

While HPI has yet to make any official announcement regarding the two-wheeler’s launch, details contained in the government-issued documents dropped hints on what the market might have once it arrives in Philippine showrooms.

    Motorcycle specifications

Based on the three memorandum circulars signed by LTO Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the newly registered Honda motorcycle features the following dimensions and specifications:

    Specification

    Measurement

Overall dimensions (Length x Width x Height; in millimeters [mm>)

    2,013 x 725 x 1,075

    Wheelbase (in mm)

    1,277

    Ground Clearance (in mm)

    153

    Gross vehicle weight (in kilograms)

    244

    Tire size

    • Front: 90/80-17
    • Rear: 120/70-17

These figures closely match those of the Honda Winner R currently already available in neighboring market Cambodia.

Powering the Philippine-registered model is a Euro 3-compliant, fuel-injected, single-cylinder 149.1 cubic-centimeter, gasoline-fed engine. This lets the vehicle reach a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour.

In Cambodia, the Winner R is equipped with a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-valve double overhead cam mill paired with a six-speed transmission.

Should the expectation prove accurate, then the motorcycle will carry an aggressive styling, an integrated lighting system, a CB1000RR-inspired tricolor livery, and prominent Winner R badging.

There is also a strong possibility that the motorcycle could arrive in the Philippines in three variants.

Other features may be included in the Philippine-bound motorcycle are:

    • A Honda Smart Key system
    • A fully digital instrument cluster
    • Hydraulic disc brakes with anti-locking system
    • A slipper clutch
    • A sealed chain drive system
    • A distinctive hexagonal taillight

For handling and ride comfort, the Honda motorcycle will likely be fitted with telescopic front forks and a rear mono shock suspension setup.

Possible replacement for the Winner X?

There is also speculation that the Honda Winner R could replace the aging Winner X, which has not received any significant update since the model was rebranded from the Supra GTR.

Currently, the Philippine-spec Honda Winner X can be had in any of the three variants:
