Yamaha PH revives ‘National Technician GP’
NTGP winner to represent country in Yamaha World Technician Grand Prix in Japan

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) has revived the Yamaha National Technician Grand Prix (NTGP) after a seven-year hiatus.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How long has it been since YMPH last held the NTGP?
The last NTGP was held some seven years ago.Where will this year's NTGP happen?
This year's NTGP will happen in Festival Mall Alabang-East Hall on May 17, 2025.Per the local subsidiary of the Japanese motorcycle company, the said event celebrates the skill, dedication, and expertise of its top mechanics and reinforces the marque’s commitment to service excellence as well as the continued growth of its technicians.

The abovementioned — YMPH stressed — is vital to delivering its promise of quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
How it works
Participants come from a pool of mechanics who are from different dealerships, all certified through the Yamaha Technical Academy.

According to YMPH, the Yamaha NTGP has three stages: a pre-qualifying test to select participants from each dealership; followed by the Regional Technician Grand Prix, where a written test will help assess their technical knowledge, product understanding, and servicing expertise; and the final round where participants with the highest scores compete in the NTGP.
The NTGP will consist of two challenges: the customer handling test, a simulation of customer handling during an after-service delivery; and the technical skills contest, where they will simultaneously perform actual diagnosis and repair on the same model and motorcycle issue.

YMPH stated that the winner will represent the country in the Yamaha World Technician Grand Prix in Japan to compete against other technicians from Yamaha global subsidiaries.
