The Haima 7X is a super stylish and unique looking compact MPV from the Chinese carmaker Haima, a sub-division of FAW. The Haima 7X was unveiled to the world in 2020 and garnered a lot of attention owing to its standout design and modern interior. For the Philippines car market, the Haima 7X is available in a single fully-loaded variant.
Step inside the cabin of the Haima 7X, and you will instantly feel that the cabin of the Haima 7X makes the interior of other MPVs in this category look severely outdated. The cabin looks inspired by that of the luxury cars from several segments above, and for this attempt only, the designers at Haima deserve an appreciation. However, the quality of materials and hard plastic all over might make you feel that this is a budget MPV.
Everything inside the Haima 7X looks super-premium, such as the two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, full rectangular widespread cockpit incorporating the full-TFT instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system, the textured layers of the dashboard in three colours of black, silver and walnut brown, a fine layer of piano black which incorporates sleek AC vents with silver surrounds and the lower centre console and transmission tunnel finished in a theme of piano black.
Apart from the wide cockpit, the Haima 7X also gets features like a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, cruise control, electric tailgate, powered driver’s seat, and leather upholstery and more.
Consider any other compact MPV in the Philippines car market, and the Haima 7X looks a lot better, with its futuristic design making it look stand out from the crowd of other MPVs in its segment. The design screams attention wherever it goes, and there is nothing like it even in the segments one or two positions above,
The Haima 7X welcomes you with its aggressive-looking front fascia, the highlight of which has to be the large and wide grille in the middle. This grille has a boomerang-shaped carved design, which has vertical slats that spread with increasing angles from the centre to the side. On the upper side edges of this grille on either side, there are wing-shaped sweptback headlamps, which look ultra-cool with their all-LED arrangement in the upper half and piano black finish in the lower half.
The front bumper has a flowing down design, which is characterized by fog lamps in vertical gloss black housings on the lower corners. The bottom portion of the front bumper gets a blacked-out diffuser which goes well with the sporty appearance of the Haima 7X.
Even from the side, the Haima 7X commands your attention with a lot of curves and elements. There is a nice sharp curve which flows from the front bonnet to the rear fender, which adds a sense of continuity. The Haima 7X has blacked-out A, B and C pillars, while the D-pillar has a floating effect with a strip of gloss black at the bottom joined to the rear windscreen. Adding more premium appeal to the design are the sleek door-mounted rearview mirrors, machined alloy wheels and chrome strip at the bottom of the door panels.
The Haima 7X has an extrovert appearance at the rear as well, with the overall profile having the dramatic appearance as that of the front. The sweptback curved headlamps with triangular outer edges and boot lid finished in a theme of gloss black is a combination which we haven’t seen in any other vehicle. The roof-mounted body-coloured spoiler also looks in sync with the floating D-pillar.
The Haima 7X might not be a driver’s delight due to a light steering setup and softer suspension system comprising of Macpherson struts at the front and a multi-link independent at the back. However, this soft suspension setup helps in keeping the occupants comfortable, which is its first purpose as a modern MPV.
The powertrain on duty in the Haima 7X is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Channelling the power produced to the front wheels via a front-wheel-drive system, this engine produces a maximum power output of 195 PS and a maximum torque output of 293 Nm, thus making it the most powerful MPV in its segment of compact MPVs.
The Haima 7X is well-equipped with all the essential safety features one expects from a vehicle of this class, such as front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability program, automatic parking brake, hill hold assist, hill descent control and front, side and curtain airbags.
The Haima 7X has a lot of potential as a modern-day MPV for younger generation buyers, with its extremely eye-catching design and well-appointed interior, both of which make you feel that you are owning a much more expensive vehicle.
The Haima7X’s cabin is a wonder. It’s covered in genuine leather, and there’s a large panoramic sunroof. There are plenty of AC vents, a decent number of charging ports, and drivers are faced with a clean digital instrument cluster. The captain’s chairs are really comfortable to sit in. The Haima 7X can carry seven passengers in the best comfort. The
While I had no plans of buying the Haima 7x, when my wife and I saw the car at the showroom, we could not think of buying anything else. Even before going through the features of the MPV or taking a test drive, we decided to buy the car. It is that attractive. The MPV stands out and looks better
