JAC JS6

The JAC JS6’s futuristic styling continues with its predominantly black cabin layout. Upfront, you are greeted with a large 12.3-inch floating central infotainment touch screen, which is linked to an 8-speaker sound system and is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth handsfree, radio, and an MP5 player. Exclusive to the driver is another 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel, which helps him or her accurately monitor one’s driving conditions. It also comes with a wireless mobile charger and front and rear USB ports.

A downside of its cabin, however, is the lack of physical knobs and switches. Most of the controls for the car’s features are already integrated into the touchscreen infotainment display. Hence, this might be a bit overwhelming and inconvenient for other drivers who are accustomed to physical controls. 

To compensate for this, JAC gave this crossover loads of soft-touch materials and premium finishes. Both the front and second rows are spacious, effectively accommodating five passengers. It also comes with a bi-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting, which is typically only seen in more expensive vehicles. Additionally, the driver has a multifunctional leather steering wheel, which is satisfying to hold. Overall, the JS6’s cabin is not only mere looks, but also very functional in many ways.

Like its cousins, the JAC JS6 features a smart, hypermodern look that screams elegance and a little hint of sportiness. It has a sleek facade accentuated by a long lightbar, which acts as the daytime running lamp for increased visibility, especially at night. It has clean-looking LED headlights underneath. Additionally, black middle and lower grilles with a diamond-like pattern give it a sporty yet sophisticated demeanor on the road.

This crossover features a nice two-tone side view enhanced by black window trims, fenders, and side garnishes. A sharp character line that stretches from the front to the rear adds more depth to its silhouette. Trailing behind this crossover, you’ll notice its hypermodern rear light bar along with fog lamps. 

The JAC JS6 measures 4,605 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,720 mm and a minimum ground clearance of 160 mm. This crossover runs on a dynamic-looking set of 18-inch wheels.

In terms of suspension, the JAC JS6 utilizes a McPherson independent suspension at the front and a Multi-link independent suspension at the rear. Its ride comfort is great since its suspension setup allows it to absorb bumps and other road imperfections effectively. It can also hit turns and corners with precision thanks to a right amount of firmness. This is one of those vehicles that you can confidently maneuver even in traffic.

The JAC JS6 is powered by a 1.5T GDI engine that has a maximum power output of 182 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. This comes mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Now, on paper, these numbers aren’t exciting at all. But, once you get this crossover going, you’ll be surprised with how peppy its powertrain can get. It can accelerate quickly, allowing for easy overtakes on the highway.

Its DCT, however, tends to have delays (i.e., jerkiness), especially when you are cruising at high speeds. But, overall, this crossover has the ability to run smoothly and efficiently both in the city and on the open road. Hence, the JS6 would make a great daily cruiser inside the Metro. 

The JAC JS6 is a very safe crossover to drive. For its price, it is equipped with a handful of advanced driver assistance systems and a long list of standard safety and security features. Its set of ADAS includes an automatic emergency brake system, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, frontal collision warning, and an intelligent remote light switch. Its braking setup consists of front and rear discs. This is supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, hydraulic brake assist, hill-start assist control, and a brake override system.

Despite being the most expensive model in the local lineup, the JAC JS6 effectively shows us that it is possible to enjoy premium features and niceties without stretching your budget. For a 5-seater crossover, it is extremely spacious, high-tech, and safe. That said, this definitely deserves more traction from the local consumers.
