This high-performance luxury grand tourer represents the Italian brand’s standard when it comes to style, handling, and overall presence on the road. Maserati Granturismo Interior & Features
Upon entering the Maserati Granturismo, you are greeted by an abundance of soft-touch materials and premium finishes around its cabin. For a more expensive and prestigious feel, the Trofeo variant features personalized leather seats with the trident symbol embossed on each, while the Folgore gets seats wrapped in regenerated nylon fiber. Regardless of the material, this luxury grand tourer’s seats offer great ergonomics for everyone on board even on long-distance trips.
You have enough room in the first row. However, its second row is more ideal for kids or smaller passengers in general. But, on the plus side, you get a decent trunk space for your groceries.
All passengers can enjoy this luxury grand tourer’s 12.3-inch HD infotainment display, which offers navigation services, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among others. Owners can also avail the optional Sonus Faber High Premium Sound system for award-winning acoustics around the cabin.
Meanwhile, drivers have access to a 12.2-inch digital dashboard, a multicontrol leather steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters, as well as a reconfigurable Maserati digital clock, which features a voice assistant, pop-up notifications, and dynamic animations.
Granturismo Exterior
The Maserati Granturismo measures 2,113 mm in width (with mirrors) and 2,929 mm in wheelbase. The Modena and Trofeo variants are 1,353 mm in height, while the Folgore is 1,375 mm. In terms of length, the Modena is 4,959 mm, while the Trofeo is 4,966 mm. Meanwhile, the Folgore is 4,960-mm.
The Maserati Granturismo features a sporty, hypermodern design. It has a unique-looking flare illuminated by teardrop-shaped full-LED headlights with DRLs. All variants flaunt the Maserati’s trident on their sporty front grille.
On the sides, all variants run on 20-inch alloy wheels at the front, while 21-inch alloys at the rear. Each variant flexes their nameplate or badge (e.g., MODENA), which is placed above their triple side air vents. The Folgore gets side vents that are illuminated in electric blue to emphasize its electrified personality.
In addition, its hypermodern, sporty personality carries over to its rear. Its back end is illuminated by new full-LED tail lights that follow Maserati’s signature boomerang shape. A quad exhaust system also adds more sportiness and aggressiveness to its overall appearance on the road.
Maserati Granturismo Ride & Handling
All variants of the Maserati Granturismo come with a Double Wishbone suspension at the front, while a Multi-Link at the rear. For its pretty hefty build, it handles twisties and sharp corners with agility and control. It eats up bumps and uneven concrete pavements quite well, leading to a supple riding experience for all passengers.
Granturismo Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Maserati Granturismo comes in two powertrain options. First the petrol-powered Modena and Trofeo are both powered by Maserati’s V6 Nettuno engine but with different tuning options. The Modena is powered by the lower-output version of the engine, which produces a maximum power output of 490 hp and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. On the other hand, the Trofeo gets the higher-output engine that produces 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the Folgore variant runs on a full-electric powertrain, which utilizes a tri-motor electric setup that generates 761 hp and a whopping 1,350 Nm of torque. Its motors are powered by an 800-V battery pack, which delivers a driving range of 450 km in one full battery charge. All variants utilize an all-wheel drivetrain. The petrol-powered variants are paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, while the electric Folgore runs on single-speed transmission.
All variants of the Maserati Granturismo are tremendously swift off the line. If you are going for more emotion on the road, then the petrol-powered (especially Trofeo) variants have the advantage. However, if you prefer a quieter, more refined ride, then choosing the Folgore is definitely a no-brainer. However, both petrol-powered and full-electric variants are not that efficient, especially when you have an appetite for a strong acceleration. But, it could still be a daily driver in the city if driven sensibly.
Maserati Granturismo Braking & Safety
In terms of safety, the Maserati Granturismo gets an automated emergency braking as well as front and rear parking sensors as a standard. Owners can also avail the optional adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist control, and a brake assist. It comes with large ventilated disc brakes on both ends.
Granturismo Verdict
In my opinion, the Maserati Granturismo is more on the niche-heavy side of things. Hence, it won’t appeal to every local consumer. But, for discerning buyers who want to stand out on the road and, at the same time, enjoy an energetic but refined cruising experience, the Maserati Granturismo is definitely worth the try.
