Toyota GR Supra

While the exterior of the Toyota GR Supra is very aerodynamic and dramatic in its appearance, the cabin of the sports car looks and feels subtle, with clean lines and an all-black theme. The gloss black highlights on the multi-functional three-spoke steering wheel, centre console, transmission tunnel, and door pads further make the cabin look premium. 

Despite its age, the 8.8-inch full-TFT screens for the instrument console with Supra-specific graphics and display modes and the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make the cabin look and feel modern. The centre console has a wide design with physical controls for the dual-zone automatic climate control and the 12-speaker JBL audio system. 

The lower centre console of the Toyota GR Supra positioned between the seats has the transmission lever, electronic parking brake, and drive mode controls. The other features of the GR Supra, such as powered front seats, paddle shifters, a head-up display, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, and a push start-stop button, further complete the overall packaging of the sports car’s interior.

The overall two-door sports coupe design of this new-generation Toyota GR Supra looks like a modern interpretation of the first-generation Supra from the 1980s. This new-generation model has a curvaceous look with smooth curves and haunches flowing over the fenders, bonnet, and boot lid. 

The Toyota GR Supra has long overhangs and large and curved LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, which are placed on the curved bonnet's corners. There are scoops below the headlamps, which enhance the aerodynamics at higher speeds, along with the large triple-split air dame spread across the front bumper.

From the side, the Toyota GR Supra looks very dramatic, with the sports coupe having a slanted coupe roofline and a low-slung appearance with the dynamic-looking, multi-spoke 19-inch black alloy wheels that have red brake callipers behind them.

The muscular-looking rear profile of the Toyota GR Supra has curved haunches over the boot lid, which make the rear look of the sports car look wide and beefy. The GR Supra also has sleek triangular LED tail lamps, with the gloss black rear diffuser with dual exhaust ports further enhancing its overall sportiness. 

Along with the engine, the Toyota GR Supra also shares its other mechanical underpinnings with the BMW Z4, including the rear-wheel drive layout and the sport-tuned suspension setup – independent Macpherson struts at the front and independent multi-link at the rear. This suspension setup of the Toyota GR Supra also features adaptive variable suspension technology and normal and sport drive modes for precise and well-controlled driving behaviour.

For the Philippines car market, the Toyota Supra comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission as the standard gearbox for the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine, which has been shared with the BMW Z4. With a maximum power output of 387 bhp and a maximum torque output of 500 Nm, the Toyota GR Supra claims 4.1 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run and a top speed of 250 kmph. 

The essential safety features offered in the Toyota GR Supra as standard include front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, hill hold assist, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and rear camera. In addition, there are some advanced driving assistance functions offered as well, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane change assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, blind spot monitoring system, pre-collision system, and traffic sign recognition.

This new-generation Toyota GR Supra successfully carries forward the legacy of the first-ever Supra, with it having evolved and more dynamic looks, exhilarating performance and sharp handling and steering feedback that gives it the feels of a true-blue sports car.
