Maserati MC20 Cielo

The cabin of the Maserati MC20 Cielo is wrapped in all-black Nero Alcantara leather upholstery and has a quite minimalist layout theme with a driver-centric approach. The simple-looking cabin, which is high on quality and drama, has a three-spoke, flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel with aluminium paddle shifters and a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it.

The centre console of the MC20 Cielo has a minimalist design, with the large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage and is the only talking point here. The co-passenger side of the dashboard has sleek AC vents neatly integrated within them. The tunnel between the front seats houses the minimalist transmission lever, drive control knob, electronic parking brake and buttons for other functions. The cabin of the Maserati MC20 Cielo can also be equipped with the optional carbon fibre package for panels and components like the gear shift paddles, cluster gaps and door sills.

Like most other convertible supercars which are based on their coupe versions, the Maserati MC20 Cielo is also based on the MC20 coupe with almost negligible design variations. However, that’s a good thing, for the MC20 already has a jaw-dropping design, and the Maserati MC20 Cielo takes that to a new higher level with its convertible roof, which folds and unfolds in 12 seconds. 

Apart from the foldable roof, the rest of the design of the Maserati MC20 Cielo is the same as the coupe version. The front profile of this convertible sports car has an aerodynamic appeal, with a curvaceous bonnet that has smooth contours over the wheel arches and air vents integrated in the middle. The side humps of the fenders, which flow towards the front profile, have swept-back all-LED headlamps with segment daytime running LEDs placed on the lower corners. The grille at the front has a Trident logo in the middle, with the bumper also having large air ducts on the sides. 

The low-slung aerodynamic side profile of the coupe version is a scintillating view to look at, with the sports car sharing its smoothly-contoured front and rear fenders and upward-opening door panels with the coupe version. Like the coupe, the MC20 Cielo also has air passages integrated into the fenders and swanky-looking rearview mirrors and is offered with five different options of 20-inch Birdcage alloy wheels. However, to accommodate the folding roof, the Maserati MC20 Cielo has a tweaked roof and pillars with additional strength.

The rear profile of the Maserati MC20 Cielo carries forward the curvaceous and aerodynamic theme of the front and side profiles with a wide-stretched boot, which houses slim LED tail lamps laid horizontally. The sporty rear bumper has a large diffuser in the middle, which is also accompanied by twin exhaust ports in the middle. Maserati is also offering a carbon fibre package as an option for components and panels like exhaust tips, rear diffuser, front splitter and door and wing sills. 

The Maserati MC20 Cielo has a 1681mm wide front track and 1649mm wide rear track, while having 4669mm length, 2178mm width, 1224mm height and 2700mm wheelbase, all of which are similar to its coupe version. Based around a high-quality and stiff carbon fibre monocoque frame, the Maserati MC20 Cielo has sports suspension and five drive modes on offer – GT, Sport, Corsa, ESC-Off and Wet – for an engaging driving experience. 

The Maserati MC20 Cielo shares its 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 petrol engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with the sports coupe without any tweaks to the performance numbers. It means that this engine produces 630 PS of maximum power and 730 Nm of maximum torque in the Maserati MC20 Cielo as well, with it claiming 320 kmph of top speed and a 2.9 second for the 0-100 kmph run.

The minimalist safety equipment list of the Maserati MC20 Cielo includes four airbags (front and side), ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, reverse camera and high beam assist.

The Maserati MC20 Cielo retains the wonderful package of the beautiful design, minimalist and high-quality cabin, thrilling performance and agile handling, with the addition of the visual drama of the open-top motoring experience with its convertible roof.
