Peugeot 2008 Interior & Features
For a premium compact SUV, the Peugeot 2008 looks very upmarket and premium, with the overall futuristic-looking layout inspired by the bigger 5008 SUV. This cabin is easily one of the most youthful-looking places to be in within the premium compact SUV space.
The Peugeot 2008 gets a uniquely designed two-spoke steering wheel, with a broad centre boss and gloss black finished spokes with chrome-finished controls on it. This steering wheel has a flat upper and lower edge, giving it a look of a squared wheel, and gets a high-placed instrument console behind it. This instrument console features the 3D i-Cockpit design for the 10-inch full-TFT display, which projects the information in staggered layers giving a nice 3D effect.
The middle layer of the dashboard is finished in a faux carbon fibre theme, while the upper layer of the dashboard has a soft-touch finish. In the middle of the dashboard, the Peugeot 2008 gets a 7-inch rectangular infotainment system, while the centre console houses the trapezoidal AC vents and toggle-like switches for automatic climate control. The lower centre console, which is finished in a piano black theme, accommodates a transmission lever and wireless charging pad.
Peugeot 2008 Exterior
The Peugeot 2008 is easily one of the most stylish premium compact SUVs one can buy in the Philippines market today. The styling and design language are inspired by the bigger 5008 SUV and are a perfect example of how an SUV can look aggressively striking without going overboard.
On the front, the Peugeot 2008 has a trapezoidal grille in the middle, which has curved sides and a blacked-out strip above it. The grille is flanked by sweptback pentagonal headlamps, which are all-LED units with LED projector and triple LED daytime running slats. However, it is the unique design of the front bumper, which catches one’s attention with the unique placement of vertically aligned daytime running LED strips below the headlamps, silver-coloured skid plate below the lower air dam and body cladding on the lower edges.
The side profile of the Peugeot 2008 looks strikingly sharp with the boomerang-shaped character lines on the door panels, sharp contours for the rear fender extending towards the tail lamp edges and piano black finish for the broad C-pillar. 2008 gets slim body cladding over the wheel arches and the lower portion of the door panels, while the piano black roof rails and machined alloy wheels further raise the style quotient.
The Peugeot 2008 looks visually dramatic at the rear as well, with the SUV getting a sharply raked rear windscreen with horizontally laid clear lens LED tail lamps. These tail lamps have a gloss black panel between them across the width of the boot lid and get boomerang-shaped character lines below them. The rear bumper is partially covered by black cladding, which makes the SUV look heavy and rugged from the back.
Peugeot 2008 Mileage Running Cost
Peugeot 2008 is a car that allows you to have a good family time, and further making your trip more joyous with its high fuel economy. Motivated by a 1.6-litre eVTi petrol engine, it delivers a decent fuel economy of 20.36 kmpl, though not at par with its gasoline variant in terms of mileage, one can consider it for the impressive power output it is capable of generating. The fuel tank of this mini-crossover fills up to 50 litres of petrol in one go.
Peugeot 2008 Ride & Handling
Peugeots are known for their excellent ride quality over uneven and broken surfaces, and 2008 follows the tradition by being an SUV which offers a plush ride quality over all kinds of surfaces, barring the extreme off-road ones. The steering is light and precise and weighs up accordingly to the increasing speeds.
Peugeot 2008 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Peugeot 2008 is available with a single turbocharged petrol powertrain, which is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, this engine is capable of putting up 130 bhp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque output, thus making it one of the most powerful 1.2-litre petrol engines on the market today. One can drive the Peugeot 2008 using three driving modes on offer – Normal, Eco and Sport.
Peugeot 2008 Braking & Safety
For a premium compact SUV, the Peugeot 2008 is extremely well-equipped with some premium safety features like active blind spot detection, active lane keep assist, advanced driver attention warning, high beam assist, active safety brake, 180-degree reverse camera, high beam assist, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and airbags all around.
Peugeot 2008 Verdict
The Peugeot 2008 might be on the pricier side, but for the additional premium it commands over other premium compact SUVs, it offers a much futuristic looking, an extremely desirable exterior design, a plethora of new-age features and a powerful powertrain, which make it one of the best in its business.
