2016 Recap: Top Sedan Launches in the Philippines

It has been a crazy year for the automobile industry, as the sector witnessed some of the great and iconic entries of all times. All the segments, be it hatch, sedan, SUV or crossover got its respective share of newcomers.

Today, however, we’ll have a look at the top sedans that made their way to the Philippines in 2016.  So, embrace yourself as we are about to start the luxurious chronological recap journey.

1. All-new Civic

2016 Honda Civic created a lot of news, excitement, and thrill in the minds before its entry. It would not be wrong to say that new Civic was one of the most awaited cars of the year 2016. It was the 10th generation tag that made the car all the more special, as it represented Civic’s never dyeing craze and evolving with time sprit. Taking about changes and newness, 10th generation Civic showed new aggressive exterior styling, first locally available VTEC Turbo engine, 7-inch audio system, and better safety features.

 

P.S: The car (2016 model) earned 14 awards globally from leading institutions in 2016.

2. Honda Accord

Looks like, 2016 was a busy year for the Japanese automaker, Honda. As shortly after launching the 10th generation Civic, the company launched the all-new Accord. Upgradations made the car all the more appealing, luxurious, comfortable and powerful, all centered towards delivering exceptional ownership experience. Here’s a small highlight of Accord's new features – aerodynamic styling, sportier alloy wheels, LED- headlight, taillight, and foglamp, 7-inch audio with the navigation system, Lane Watch technology and a wide array of safety equipment.

3. Rolls-Royce Dawn

One of the biggest, sexiest and most expensive launches of the season was Rolls-Royce Dawn. The car was globally launched in September 2015, and British Bespoke Automobiles Inc., the official distributor of Rolls-Royce in the Philippines, announced its local entry on 29th July 2016. Dawn is a sheer piece of artwork that is highly inspired by Wraith and is said to be ‘a soft head counterpart of the latter.' Though Dawn is convertible, we have included this masterpiece in the list of sedans.

4. 2016 Chevrolet Sail

Making  entry in the B-segment sedan fleet in 2016 was Chevrolet Sail. The said car was originally designed to fulfill the need of the Chinese market but later seeing demand for the segment it was launched in other countries. Sail was showcased to the Philippines audience for the first time at 2016 Manila International Auto Show and generated some positive feedback. Sail is available in two engine options: 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter and holds a starting price tag of PhP 713,888.

5.  Volkswagen CC

Volkswagen Philippines launched its luxury coupe, CC at 2016 Philippines International Motor Show. Elaborated as Comfort Coupe by many, the said car with its launch raised the bar by a manifold for its competitors. The car features a sleek exterior and luxurious cabin that amalgamates luxurious appeal and practicality in an efficient manner.

6. Volvo S90

When compiling the list of top sedans launches of 2016, how one can forget to mention Volvo S90. The car is Volvo’s flagship sedan and features best of company’s features, design, and safety aspects. Giving a small preview, here are some of its features/specifications – Scalable Product Architecture platform, 20-inch alloy wheels, high-quality leather, large infotainment screen and much more.

7. Toyota Corolla

The last car to feature on our list of top sedans launches of 2016 is all-new Toyota Corolla. This C-segment executive sedan houses Toyota’s new ‘Keen Look’ design philosophy along with a well-equipped cabin and optimal safety gears. The car is available in two engine options – 1.6-liter Dual VVT-i and 2.0-liter Dual VVT-i that comes paired to a 6-speed manual and CVT with 7-speed mode transmission system respectively.
