GAC partners with TV5, Cignal TV to promote PH sports

MANILA: GAC International Philippines is intent on supporting Philippine sports through a newly established partnership with direct-to-home television provider Cignal TV and with the free-to-air commercial channel TV5.

Through this partnership, GAC’s local arm says that its lineup of vehicles perfectly coordinates with the essence of high-impact sports events hosted on Cignal TV and TV5. These include the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup, the Premier Volleyball League on Tour and Invitational Conference, and UAAP Season 89 Men’s Basketball.

The aforementioned likewise echoes the brand’s current sports marketing campaign that shares the same initials with its name: “Go Above Competition.” This mindset, GAC shared, will be “brought to life” via its efforts on sporting venues and on the road as it accelerates its brand presence in the local market through “high-energy fan engagement.”

Notably, this local thrust in sports mirrors GAC International's global initiative of bringing together its values of perseverance, teamwork, and innovation with the energy and vibrancy of athletic activities. 

“Bringing our global sports marketing tradition to the Philippines is an exciting step as we deepen our roots in the country,” GAC International Senior Vice President Steven Wang said. 

“Sports embody energy, endurance, and relentless determination, which are values that lie at the very core of GAC’s brand DNA. Through this partnership with Cignal TV and TV5, we aim to inspire Filipino sports enthusiasts by bringing together the dynamic spirit of competition and our commitment to world-class mobility,” Wang added. 

On a more global scale, GAC International’s sports partnerships include sponsoring notably storied football clubs like Deportivo Toluca FC from Mexico and Sydney FC of Australia. The company also supports major Euro-based golf events like the Rosa Challenge Tour, as well as endurance events, such as the Bolivia Half Marathon.

GAC Aion UT in PH

One of GAC International Philippines’ latest offerings is the Aion UT, which currently retails with an introductory price of P998,000 (until July 31, 2026).

Propelling the model is a single electric motor setup driving its front wheels. The said motor goes together with a 44.12-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, providing the vehicle with a range of 400 kilometers (km), according to the New European Driving Cycle. At maximum, the all-electric model can generate up to 134 horsepower and 145 Newton-meters of torque. 

On the outside, the GAC Aion UT wears a sleek hatchback shape equipped with rain-sensing wipers, power-folding/adjustable side mirrors, LED exterior lighting fixtures, automatic headlamp functionality, and a set of 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Chaoyang tires. 

Inside the Aion UT is a five-seater layout that comes with leather seats, an automatic climate control system, a rear cabin armrest, and manual front seat adjustability. For storage, the model has a default trunk capacity of 440 liters. 

Other noteworthy interior equipment of the GAC Aion UT includes, but is not limited to:

• Emergency lane keeping
