The Philippine crossover market has reached new heights in terms of competitiveness. A few years ago, brands that had become household names were dominating the segment, but nowadays, many new ones have begun to rise and establish themselves. 

One of the newest car brands in the country is Omoda, which now offers the C5 compact crossover. It isn’t as well-known as other Chinese carmakers that have entered the country earlier, but its lineup of cars is touted to provide equal servings of style, comfort, and performance. 

The Omoda C5, however, faces an uphill battle in the Philippine market since it faces a horde of rivals. So, what are these aforementioned competitors of the Omoda C5? We’ll list them all below, but before that, let’s have a short summary of the Omoda-made crossover’s specifications and features. 

Omoda C5

The Omoda C5 entered the Philippine market together with its E5 electric-vehicle twin. Currently, the C5 has a price ranging from P998,000-P1.279 million. 

Style-wise, the model wears a hyper-modern take on the familiar crossover formula. It has a wide diamond-pattern grille, sharply shaped LED fixtures, and a sporty, coupe-like body shape complemented by sleek character lines. 

Completing the appearance of the Omoda C5, at least for the top-spec trim, is a set of 18-inch wheels. The model also has a sunroof, a power tailgate, and power-folding side mirrors. 

Inside the Omoda C5 is a well-arranged cockpit filled with digital displays, leather upholstery, and a lot of soft-touch surfaces. To be more specific, it comes standard with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a similarly-sized central infotainment display. The latter has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and is linked to an eight-piece Sony sound system.

GAC GS3 Emzoom

One big rival of the Omoda C5 in the Philippines is the GAC GS3 Emzoom, which currently has a price ranging from P1.09 million to P1.29 million. 

Like many of its rivals, the GAC GS3 Emzoom has a modern exterior. Specifically, it sports an edgy front fascia equipped with a slatted grille flanked by shark LED headlamps. It also has a bold side section with deep character lines, and an athletic rear end enhanced by dual tip exhausts, eye-catching LED taillights, and a sizable rear diffuser. 

Apart from its stylish appearance, the GAC model also has plenty of exterior equipment. For the top-spec R-Style trim, it has 19-inch wheels, a power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors, automatic headlamp functionality, and a heating function for its rear window. 

Inside, the GAC-made crossover comes with soft-touch surfaces, PVC leather seats, and an automatic air-conditioning system. On-board entertainment, meanwhile, is provided by a 10.25-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

MG One

The MG One, which currently has a price ranging from P1.299 million-P1.459 million is a little bit more expensive, but it remains within striking range of the Omoda C5. 

Like its rivals, the MG One comes with a modern exterior design, but its shape employs noticeably more bulging details, particularly above its wheel arches. Otherwise, it also has a wide mesh-type grille, sharp LED exterior lighting fixtures, and the typical tall greenhouse of a crossover. 

Besides its planted-looking stance, the MG One also has a set of 19-inch wheels, power-folding side mirrors, and a panoramic sunroof. 

Inside the MG-made nameplate is a well-arranged five-seater cabin that’s cooled by an automatic dual-zone air-conditioning system. Plus, it comes with leather-style upholstery and a generous amount of soft-touch surfaces for an additional premium touch. 

Positioned in the middle of the MG One’s dashboard is a 12.3-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The model also has a good number of USB ports and a six-piece speaker set.

Changan CS55 Plus

Likewise counted as an alternative to the Omoda C5 is the Changan CS55 Plus. Currently, the said model has a price ranging from P1.179 million-P1.31 million in the local market. 

Style-wise, the CS55 Plus showcases a squared-off body adorned with plenty of modern touches. It has a series of eye-catching LED fixtures, a wide grille, and a set of stylish 17-inch wheels. 

In addition, the Changan-made crossover has automatic headlamp functionality, a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and power-folding side mirrors with heating. 

For interiors, the top-spec CS55 Plus Hype, in particular, boasts loads of creature comforts. For the driver, it has a leather steering wheel, a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, a push-to-start button, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an electronic parking brake. 

Everyone inside the model is kept cool by an automatic air-conditioning system. The vehicle also comes with leather upholstery. Entertainment aboard the Changan is handled by a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink connectivity.

The CS55 Plus’ main safety kit is comprised of anti-lock braking, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX, and rollover mitigation - among others. 

Moreover, the Changan nameplate comes with an ADAS suite, which includes:
