2020 Kia Soul EV unveiled at LA Auto Show 2018

MANILA: Kia, the South Korean auto manufacturer, has pulled the curtains off the 2020 Soul EV. In its third generation now, the EV version of the Soul not only looks better but also packs in better performance mechanicals.

Speaking of the updates, the new Soul EV features a revamped front fascia with the addition of all-LED headlamps and wrap-around kind of taillamps. Just like on the previous generations, the 2020 Soul EV boasts a boxy structure. However, even with not so many curves and creases, the EV looks appealing to the eye. The charging port has been placed on the front bumper. The new EV rides on 17-inch alloys which gets 5 chunky spokes.

On the inside, we get a 10.25-inch infotainment screen equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Voice command and a digital gear are also present on the updated Soul EV. The customer of the 2020 Kia Soul EV will be able to get all the information about their EV on their smartphone via ‘UVO’ telematics.

In terms of power, the 2020 Kia Soul EV generates 204 PS and 396Nm of peak torque in its arsenal. The increased power is due to the arrival of the motors and battery pack from the e-Niro. The battery pack that has been borrowed from the e-Niro is a 64kWh water-cooled unit. A full charge is expected to yield a run somewhere close to e-Niro’s 484 km range. Also, present on the new Soul EV, are 4 different driving modes along with regenerative braking for maximum efficiency.

The 2020 Kia Soul EV will hit the selected markets in March 2019. The manufacturer has also stated that the EV will be available in limited numbers.
