2020 Toyota Raize is now on sale, and we got all the details

MANILA: The 2020 Toyota Raize has finally reached the dealerships and we got all the details. Following its teaser preview last month, the Japan automaker has finally spilled the beans on their new small SUV offering.

 

Following its debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the all-new Toyota Raize compact SUV is now on sale in Japan. According to Toyota, the Raize is perfect for customers “who want to drive an SUV, who want to load their cars with lots of luggage, but who also wish to have a car that is compact and easy to drive.”

While the 2020 Raize wears a Toyota badge, it is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, which is just derivative of Toyota’s TNGA platform—which you would find on the Camry, C-HR, RAV4, Prius, and the new Corolla. It measures 3995mm long, 1695mm in width, and 1620mm in height.

Given the dimension, the all-new Raize is smaller than the C-HR, Mazda CX-3, and Mitsubishi ASX. But despite the small size, Raize boasts a roomy interior and luggage capacity for its class. The boot capacity is at 369 litres and can be expanded to fit more cargo by folding the rear seats.

The 2020 Toyota Raize is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine capable of producing 97 hp of power at 6,000rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 2,400-4,00rpm. The engine is partnered to a dual-mode continuously variable transmission and all trims will be available in all-wheel-drive option. Toyota guarantees that the car can “achieve[s> the torque and driving joy of a 1.5-litre engine, as well as outstanding fuel efficiency” as well as “powerful and smooth acceleration at low speeds… and quiet performance at high speeds.”

 

Other standard features in  2020 Toyota Raize specs sheet include 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, 7-inch digital instrument display, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-compatible multimedia system. In terms of safety, the Toyota Raize is available with Smart Assist safety features which include the autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Crash Avoidance Braking Function, Erroneous Start Prevention Function with braking control (forward and backward), Adaptive Cruise Control with All Speed Tracking, and Smart Panorama Parking Assist.

 2020 Toyota Raize price starts at 1,679,000 yen or just a cool Php779,000.
