2024 Toyota GR GT Cup PH finals to commence this weekend

MANILA: The final rounds of the 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Gran Turismo (TGR GT) Cup Philippines e-motorsports tournament are scheduled to commence on August 17-18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. 

The said event will be participated by the top 40 e-racers from the qualifying rounds held last July 26-August 3. 

On the upcoming e-motorsports event's first day (August 17), competitors at the virtual tracks will battle wheel-to-wheel in the quarterfinals to determine the top 20 racers. 

Both the semifinals and the national finals will be held on the second day (August 18). The semifinals will whittle down the tournament roster to just the top 10, while the finals will determine the top three e-racers. 

The aforementioned top three who will emerge from the TGR GT Cup Philippines national finals will get to represent the country at the upcoming Asia Finals, which will be held in Malaysia on October 13, 2024.

Per the TGR GT Cup Philippines’ official website, the first-place winner of the national finals will get to take home a cash prize of P100,000. The second placer will also be given a prize of P75,000, and the third placer a prize of P50,000. 

Apart from the hot e-racing action, Toyota Motor Philippines will also display the GR Yaris, GR Supra, GR 86, Fortuner GR-S, Corolla Cross GR-S HEV, and Hilux GR Sport at SM Mall of Asia until August 21, 2024.

For the unaware, the TGR GT Cup is an e-sports tournament held in the digital confines of the sim-racing video game Grand Turismo 7 on the PlayStation 4 or 5. 

With Toyota as its organizer, participating e-racers will use digital recreations of Gazoo Racing vehicles, which they will race around faithfully recreated race tracks.
