Bentley Mulliner introduces Blackline package for Continental GT

MANILA: Bentley introduces a Mulliner Blackline specification for its Continental GT and GT Convertible. The design specification, which includes black exterior pieces, is also offered as an option across the Bentley range.

In a release, Bentley said the design package comes to the Continental GT due to "customer popularity and success of the striking Blackline external treatment," which is designed by the car marque's bespoke division Mulliner. 

"The new option is in response to the increasing demand for black versions of brightware (chrome), with 38 percent of Continental GT family orders globally now including this option," Bentley said. 

For the Blackline version, all of the exterior details that are previously in chrome — such as the radiator grille surround , upper mirror caps, Mulliner matrix fender vents, and lower bumper grilles — are now finished in the dark color or gloss Beluga black. The only parts that remain in silver are the Bentley "Winged B" badge and grille pattern. 

The Continental GT Mulliner Blackline models also feature 22-inch black rims, with self-levelling badges featuring a chrome ring. A black Mulliner wheel with contrast polished "pockets" will be available in the near future, Bentley said.

Inside, the GT Mulliner Blackline remains unchanged from the existing Mulliner edition, "allowing customers to enjoy any color combination they choose as part of Mulliner’s limitless offering, or one of eight recommended three-color combinations, using Bentley’s wide palette of hides and threads."

As part of the standard Mulliner Driving Specification, the interior incorporates Bentley’s  “Diamond in Diamond” quilting for the seats, doors, and rear quarter panels, featuring both contrast and accent stitching running through the diamond layout.

With almost 400,000 stitches in the cabin of each car, each diamond quilting contains exactly 712 individual stitches, all precisely aligned to point to the center of the diamond it creates.

Depending on region, the Continental GT Mulliner Blackline can be optioned with a six-liter 6.0-liter W12 delivering 635ps, or the four-liter V8 producing 550ps.
