CAMPI-TMA H1 2026 sales down by 11%

MANILA: Sales of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) for the first half of 2026 were 11.4 percent lower than their performance during the same period last year.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Which automotive brands led the market share during the first half of 2026?

The top three are Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki.
  • How did the Philippine auto market perform in the first half of 2026, and what drove the June recovery?

During the first half (H1) of 2026, combined sales from CAMPI and TMA dropped by 11.4% year-on-year, totaling 204,557 units compared to 230,912 units in H1 2025.
  • Based on their joint report, the two organizations sold 204,557 vehicles from January to June this year, compared with the 230,912 units delivered to customers during the same period in 2025.

Last month, the two groups sold 37,231 units—showing an 11-percent improvement over May 2026’s 33,532 units turned over to clients.

While June became the groups’ highest selling month so far this year, their shared output the previous month is still eight percent short compared to the 40,483 vehicles rolled out to customers in June 2025.

Combined with industry estimates, the total auto market moved around 42,000 new vehicles—reflecting a strong 18.7-percent increase from May 2026.

CAMPI President Jose Maria Atienza said that the local auto industry’s June performance brings a more optimistic second semester outlook, as vehicle sales are projected to exceed last year’s second half monthly levels.

“This June, we saw sales of both Internal ICE vehicles and xEVs (electrified vehicles) rise. Industry sales of gas and diesel cars grew by 10 percent  versus May due to more stable fuel prices, while xEVs grew by 49.2 percent, thanks to improving supply levels,” Atienza shared.

The commercial vehicle segment accounted for 80.2 percent of overall CAMPI-TMA sales in the first half of the year, with 164,054 units sold. Its year-to-date retail performance reflected an 11.4-percent slide from the 185,265 units sold in January-June last year.

    Other stories:

On the other hand, Passenger car sales, which accounted for 19.8 percent of the two organizations' total sales, reached 40,503 units, down 11.3 percent from the 45,647 units sold in January-June 2025.

Notably, Passenger car sales last month rose 16.5 percent from the 6,922 units sold in June 2025.
