Chicago Auto Show will have a bigger and better Toyota Tacoma
MANILA: Pickups are the next big thing in the automobile industry, aren’t they? We in no way mean that the pickups have not been as successful in the past. They have had their fair share of success since their arrival, however,
since buyers have started using them as lifestyle vehicles than just commercial loaders, the pickup scene has changed quite a lot. While Toyota might still be having a hangover from the A90 Supra party, they are back to work at full pace. Come 2019 Chicago Auto Show and we will be seeing the all-new 2020 Tacoma in flesh.
Putting an end to all the rumours regarding the unveiling of the updated pickup, Toyota itself has released a teaser image of the 2020 Tacoma. About to enter in its third generation now, the Tacoma made its debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). We expect the pickup truck to come with some intrepid designing and advanced tech.
Looking at the teaser image released by Toyota, we see the boldness spilling out of the pickup’s front fascia. At first glance, we bet most people would say that’s a truck! The 2020 Tacoma boasts its ever so popular chiselled exterior and a revamped grille flanked by squared headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs. The projector units in the headlights should also be LED as the halogens in the last-generation were not at par with the competitors.
While Toyota is not in the mood of uttering a word about the updated Tacoma, the pickup is expected to come equipped with Safety Sense P. This kit brings along safety features like front collision avoidance, pre-crash assist, pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, and automatic high beam assist. Mechanically, the updated Toyota Tacoma should be housing a re-tuned 2.7-litre inline-four or 3.5-litre V6 mill.
Power delivery is expected to be taken care of by either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission unit. While the Toyota Tacoma was already a great pickup, the updates are only going to make it a better one. However, a TRD Pro Tacoma and inclusion of stuff like Live Valve shocks from Fox Racing (as seen on the Raptor) and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity will surely provide the Tacoma with an extra bit of flavour.
