Dodge Demon produced for one last time
MANILA: Dodge SRT has produced the last model of the Challenger Demon at the FCA Brampton Assembly in Ontario, Canada. The Demon didn’t last long but certainly won the hearts of many automobile enthusiasts around the globe. The Challenger Demon was officially showcased for the first time at the 2017 New York International Auto Show.
To end it all on a good note, the company is planning an exclusive exit. The last Demon will be taken to an upfit centre where it’ll receive Viper Red exterior paint-job, the new 18-inch aluminium wheels with radial tyres and exclusive VIN badging. For unawares, the Dodge Demon has been produced 3,300 times for one model year. Powered by a mammoth 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine, the Dodge Demon produces 851 PS of max power and 1044 Nm of peak torque.
The Dodge Viper, on the other hand, draws power from an 8.4-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine capable of churning out a max power of 650 PS and a peak torque of 814 Nm. Dodge SRT has already revealed plans of discontinuing this version of Viper and it’ll be coming up with an all-new sixth-gen Viper with smaller displacement and V8 engine. The new Viper is expected to see the light of day probably by 2020 or 2021.
According to the plan, the 2017 Dodge Viper and the last Dodge Challenger Demon will be auctioned off as a pair under the company’s new program called ‘The Ultimate Last Chance’. The Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction is scheduled to happen from June 20-23 where one lucky bidder will get a chance to own two power-packed muscle cars from America.
