Dodge debuts all-new Charger

MANILA: Dodge has debuted the turbocharged internal combustion versions of its next-generation Charger muscle car.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much horsepower and torque can the all-new Dodge Charger Scat Pack produce?

The all-new Dodge Charger Scat Pack, with the high-output tune, can produce up to 550 horsepower and 720 Newton-meters of torque.
  • What is the engine of the all-new Dodge Charger?

The all-new Dodge Charger uses the 3.0-liter “Sixpack” inline-six twin-turbo gasoline engine.
  • While it appears similar to the electric vehicle (EV) Daytona versions that were launched last year, Dodge says that it carries “the gasoline-powered old-school attitude” that the previous versions are known for.

“For 60 years, Dodge Charger has been known for delivering legendary muscle car performance, and we have every intention of continuing that legacy,” Dodge Chief Executive Officer Matt McAlear said.

“This next-generation Charger lineup delivers the most horsepower and most torque of any muscle car in its class, the widest body of any car in the industry, an award-winning interior, and perhaps most important, what our customers have told us they want: the power to choose what fuels them,” McAlear added.

    Powertrain

Under the hood of the 2026 model year Dodge Charger is the “Sixpack” 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six that comes in two different tunes. First is the high output (HO), which is capable of producing up to 550 horsepower (hp) and 720 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The lower-spec standard output (SO), meanwhile, can churn out 420 hp and 634 Nm of torque

To note, the HO Sixpack is made available on the Dodge Charger Scat Pack, while the SO is for the Charger R/T.

Both trims, however, come with all-wheel-drive (AWD) with an on-demand rear-wheel-drive (RWD) mode, an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, and a multi-disc wet-type clutch system.

As claimed by the American carmaker, the Scat Pack variant with the HO engine can accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour from rest in 3.9 seconds

Here’s a table showcasing the basic mechanical specifications of the 2026 Dodge Charger, specifically the Scat Pack:

From the side, the vehicle gets a two-door layout with mostly smooth details. Its rear section, however, comes with more eye-candy courtesy of stainless-steel exhaust tips and a gloss black rear spoiler.

Completing the appearance of the muscle car is a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in 275/40ZR20 Goodyear all-season tires.

    Interior

Inside, the Dodge Charger ICE version sports a design that the company says was inspired by the 1968 model. But like most modern nameplates, the newly launched Charger Scat Pack and R/T trims come with a lot of digital displays.

Particular to the Scat Pack is the “Plus Trim,” which offers a 16-inch digital gauge cluster paired with a heads-up display. Standard on all variants, meanwhile, is a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Additional interior amenities available to the Dodge Charger include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Power-adjustable seats (Plus Trim)
    • 18-piece Alpine Pro speaker system
    • 64-color ambient lighting system (Plus Trim)
    • Wireless smartphone charging pad (Plus Trim)
    • Drive mode selector
    • Paddle shifters (Scat Pack only)
    • Pistrol grip shifter
    • Push-to-start button

Despite being a two-door model, the newly launched Dodge Charger comes with rear seats. It can, however, only accommodate up to four occupants. Its liftback-style trunk also has a cargo capacity of 1,059 liters with the rear seats folded down.

    Safety

For safety, the all-new Dodge Charger comes standard with a slew of advanced driver-assist systems. It has forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane management, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, and a driver monitoring system - among others.

The nameplate also has several optional safety features, which include:

    • 360-degree view camera
    • Dedicated front tire to curbside cameras
    • Turn signal active blind-spot monitors
    • ParkSense active front camera

    Availability

As expected, the United States will be getting first dibs on the all-new Dodge Charger. Per Dodge, the two-door version of the Scat Pack is available for orders this August with a starting price $54,995, or around P3.144 million at current exchange rates. Meanwhile, the four-door version of the Scat Pack and the two-door R/T will arrive in the first half of 2026.

There’s no word yet if the all-new Dodge Charger will arrive in the Philippines. But considering that the previous version was sold locally, it would be understandable that many local fans of the brand will remain hopeful.
