Dodge Viper with V8 engine possibly in the making
MANILA: A good news for Viper fans, the sixth-gen Viper is around the corner. Dodge and SRT are allegedly working on to grant life to the new Viper yet again. Unlike earlier, it will be a V8 engine producing more than 500 PS of max power. The predecessor came with a stonking HEMI V10 power unit that unfortunately did not last for long, due to new US safety regulations and of course low sales. As a result, Dodge SRT shut down the Conner assembly plant last year.
According to the sources, the new Viper will have an all-new aluminium V8 engine which will produce around 550 PS of max power. There will be plenty of modern technologies integrated to support and power the next-gen Viper though. Dodge SRT is keen to stick with its 6-speed manual gearbox as the sole transmission option. No automatic transmission is on the cards for the all-new Viper. The lack of two cylinders might disappoint a few motorists out there. But what makes them happy a moment later is that there might be a supercharged version of Viper coming as well.
The next-gen Viper will wear a body made up of mostly aluminium and carbon-fiber. This is to keep the weight of the car down and offer rigidity at the same time. A new space-design will be featured with independent front and rear suspension units for better cornering and control. There is a possibility of brand considering the coupe and convertible body styles a few years down the line.
As far as the making of the sixth-gen Viper is concerned, the company might build a new facility or seek out outside help. If they opt for the first option then expect the new Viper to embrace a whopping price tag. The year 2019 serves as the 30th anniversary of the Viper and it won’t be a surprise if the company comes up with something exclusive until the final product is ready and out in the market.
