Drift mode on the Mercedes-AMG A45?

MANILA: In a Christmas video, the German automaker has displayed the drifting skills of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG 45. The teased car, which is due to launch soon, will be placed higher than the A 35 4Matic. The upcoming car is also expected to provide a lot more oomph than the A 35 4Matic which was launched in September, earlier this year.

Rumoured to arrive with an all-wheel-drive, the Mercedes-AMG 45 is seen drifting heavily in the released video. Going by the speculations, the tasty drifting displayed is a result of the dedicated drift mode on the car which delivers all the power to the rear wheels only.

The video certainly impresses one and all, especially the drift enthusiasts. The rear wheel drive capabilities are without a hair of doubt are top-notch considering the delightful curves the A 45 is seen conquering in the video. This ability, however, has already been seen on the likes of E 63 S 4Matic and GT 4-Door Coupe. Moreover, we see the A 45 in the video with a Panamericana grille and quad-circular exhaust tips along with rear wing similar to the A 35.

Tobias Moers, who is the CEO at Mercedes-AMG has already cleared all doubts about the powertrain on the A 45. The dipped in a colorful camouflage drift beast will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-pot motor coupled with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The power figures are expected to be over 401 PS, meaning there won’t be any shortage of thrills.
