Elegant or Awkward? Rolls-Royce Sweptail breaks cover

MANILA: Known for producing state-of-the-art cars for over a century, the British automaker, Rolls-Royce was once again into the limelight for its bespoke one-off built car. Yes, Rolls-Royce Sweptail revealed recently and immediately gained the attention of petrol heads. Inspired by the “Swept-Tail” Rolls-Royces of the ‘20s and ‘30s, the car entered into the making in 2013. The car is specifically made for a customer who is an avid collector of distinctive super-yachts and private aircrafts and looking to add to its collection a modern ‘coach built’ Rolls-Royce.

Sweptail Side Profile

The recently revealed Rolls-Royce is based on Phantom’s DNA and expected to mark its presence at the Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza this weekend in Italy. At the front, the grille fitted in the Sweptail is among the largest fitted to any modern Rolls Royce and gets hand made finishing that is striking immediately. It is evolved from a single piece of aluminum and blends exclusivity and functionality in an effective manner.

Sweptail Panoramic Roof

Looking at the back is the “swept-tail” through which the car has got its name. According to Rolls-Royce, the way bodywork wraps under the car with no visible boundaries is inspired from the hull of a yacht. Whereas, the “bullet-tip” center brake light and lower bumper all together create a fine form of elegance. The registration plate 08 is handcrafted, which is made from the block of aluminum. But, the key focus area of the car is its panoramic glass roof, which takes place as the complete roof of the Sweptail. This is not only the biggest sunroof over a car but, it is the most complex as well.

Rolls-Royce Sweptail Cabin

In the cabin, the wooden work, leather covering, metal and a “hat shelf’ with an illuminated lip are among some of the highlighting features while according to the manufacturer, the dashboard is the cleanest to date. The clock placed on the dash is made from the thinnest Macassar veneer and machined titanium hands. One will also find a customized mechanism of serving champagne bottle with a touch of the button.

Rolls-Royce Sweptail

Considering the mechanical details, the Rolls-Royce Sweptail houses a familiar V12 and according to sources, the car holds a whooping price tag of $10 million (approximately Php 49,83,30000). We don’t have exact details of the customer who has ordered this masterpiece but, we surely know that the individual has a unique taste which might appeal to some while awkward to another.
