Recap 2016: Big Launches of the Year

MANILA: It’s about time to bid farewell to 2016, and a nice way to do so is by remembering the big and most exemplary auto launches of the said year. The cars we have shortlisted are some of the most expensive and hyped ones to arrive in the Philippines market. These statement making cars are a dream to possess; wherein one gets to experience leisure & explore power.

Without further delay, here are the five biggest launches of 2016

Audi R8 V 10

It was in October first week that Audi Philippines took off the vial from its mighty beast, R8 V10.  The car is designed to deliver superb driving dynamics along with class-leading cabin features. What makes the Audi R8 V10 more unique is the fact that it is one of the last supercars to house a naturally aspired engine. Taking more about its 5.2-litre 40V mill, it delivers a maximum power of 610 PS and a peak torque of 560 NM. It takes the car 3.2 seconds to cover 0 to 100 km distance while hitting the top speed of 330 kmph.

Volkswagen CC

Launched at the 2016 Philippines International Motor Show, as promised, Volkswagen CC sure grabbed a lot of eyeballs at the event. Comfort Coup, as its name elaborates is a 4-door coupe that is segmented between Jetta and Passat. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine that effortlessly generates 177 hp of maximum power and is coupled to a six-speed direct shift transmission system.

Rolls Royce Dawn

This list might talk about the five big launches of 2016, but the car we are about to mention, the Dawn is the protagonist here. Tagged as the ‘sexiest car ever,' Dawn is integrated with all the right ingredients to make it to the top of luxury and performance. Apart from featuring a stunning exterior and interior, the car houses a 570 PS generating 6.6-litre V12 twin-turbo mill. Well, apart from the passion for royalty, one needs a massive bank balance to get the Dawn home.

Nissan GT-R

Nissan launched its ‘Godzilla,' the GT-R at the 2016 PIMS. What made the Philippines launched GT-R different and special, is the fact that it is loaded with the biggest technical update the car has ever received since its premiere in 2007.  Though the car still features the same 3.8-litre VR38DETT twin turbo mill, it is now tweaked to deliver better power and torque, 570 PS and 637 Nm to be precise. Further, enhancing the driving experience is present active sound enhancement system and new titanium exhaust.

Subaru Forester 2016  

We are ending our list with 2016 Manila International Auto Show launched Subaru Forester. The car received a host of technological and styling updates over the previous generation model. Along with significant exterior design changes, the car now features a PIN code access system that allows the owner to get in the car even when the key fob has gotten damaged. As for the engine, Forester is available in two options – 2.0-litre naturally aspirated, and 2.0-litre turbocharged.
