Subaru introduces all-new Uncharted EV for US market

MANILA: Subaru has unveiled the all-new Uncharted electric vehicle (EV) in North America. It was introduced together with the Trailseeker, but contrary to its all-electric sibling, it has been described as a “value-added buy” by the marque’s American arm. 

With that said, the model is touted as the entry-level Subaru nameplate. It is far smaller compared to the larger Trailseeker, although it still boasts some manner of off-road capability as hinted at by its adventurous-looking exterior design.

Let’s check out what the all-new Subaru Uncharted EV is offering to prospective buyers. 

Subaru Uncharted: specifications

Powertrain

For its propulsion system, the Subaru Uncharted uses a dual or single motor setup. On the front-wheel-drive entry-level trims, the model can generate up to 221 horsepower (hp). The top-spec variants with the Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, meanwhile, can churn out 338 hp. At the moment, no official torque figures for this nameplate were shared. 

From a single full charge, the entry-level FWD version of the Uncharted can cover up to 482 kilometers (km), while the AWD version has a cruising range of 458 km. All trims come standard with a 74.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. 

Moreover, the Uncharted is equipped with a battery preconditioning system, which is similar to the one found on the Subaru Trailseeker. The said system ensured that its North American Charging Standard (NACS) port can provide up to 150 kilowatts (kW) even in cold weather conditions.

Exterior

Appearance-wise, the Subaru Uncharted sports a less rugged exterior compared to the Trailseeker. It has less in the way of sharp angles, as well as smaller black plastic claddings, but it still has a generous ground clearance of 208 millimeters (mm). 

Other noteworthy exterior equipment present on the Uncharted includes a power tailgate, low-profile roof rails, and LED lighting fixtures with headlamp washers. Completing the look of the all-new EV is a set of 18 to 20-inch alloy wheels that either come with a gloss black finish or a two-tone gloss black and gunmetal colorway. 

Interior, safety

Inside the Subaru Uncharted is a five-seater layout that comes with water-proof StarTex upholstery, ambient lighting, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and eight-way power-adjustable front seats with heating. 

The driver of the EV model, meanwhile, has access to the following amenities:

• Leather steering wheel with heating
• Electronic parking brake
• Drive mode selector
• Seven-inch LCD gauge cluster
• Heated power-adjust side mirrors
• Windshield de-icer
• Digital rearview mirror
• Dual wireless smartphone charging
• Push-to-start button

Positioned on its dashboard is a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the top-spec GT trim, the said screen is linked to a Harman Kardon speaker set.

For safety, the Subaru Uncharted primarily depends on a suite of advanced driver-assist systems comprised of a 360-degree view monitor, driver attention monitoring, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, front cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane departure alert, and emergency stop assist - among others. 

Availability

Subaru will begin selling the Uncharted in the US market in early 2026, together with the Trailseeker. 

At the moment, Subaru Philippines has yet to indicate if it will be bringing in an all-electric nameplate, but as we’ve said before, this all-new EV crossover will certainly tick a lot of boxes for local Subie fans and those who like outdoorsy all-electric vehicles.
