Which Ferrari models will make their UK dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed?
The Ferrari 296 GTB, Ferrari SF90 Spider, Ferrari 812 Competizione, Ferrari Daytona SP3, and Ferrari SP38 will make their UK dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. When is the Goodwood Festival of Speed?
The Goodwood Festival of Speed will happen from June 23 to 26.The 296 GTB, Ferrari's first V6 hybrid, is the first of the UK dynamic debuts. It delivers a total output of 830cv, thanks to a 2.9-liter mid-rear-mounted V6 that produces 663cv and a hybrid system that can generate an additional 167cv to the rear wheels. The 296 GTB that will be on display at the Festival of Speed is represented in Rossa Corsa with a racing livery in Baby Blue, as part of the optional Assetto Fiorano pack, which adds more aggressive aerodynamics and fixed racing dampers.
Colonel Ronnie Hoare's Maranello Concessionaires racing team of the 1960s and 1970s was the inspiration for this car's color scheme. The car also has an iconic numberplate, "EHF 1," which was formerly registered on many Ferrari cars during the days when Maranello Concessionaires also handled the brand's importation into the UK, before the importation rights were handed back to Ferrari SpA in October 2014. The official Ferrari dealer, Maranello Sales, retains ownership of the EHF 1 numberplate, which it has willingly loaned to Ferrari North Europe to complete the historic reference to the brand's history in the UK.
The Ferrari SF90 Spider, an open-top variant of the SF90 Stradale that was unveiled in 2019 to commemorate Scuderia Ferrari's 90th anniversary, will sit alongside the 296 GTB in the Supercar Paddock. The SF90 Spider has a 3.9-liter V8 engine that generates 780cv, with three electric motors that produce another 220cv and are connected to each of the front wheels and between the engine and gearbox. This SF90 Spider's specifications were determined by a journalist from Autocar magazine, which will publish a comprehensive review of the car in a later issue.
The Ferrari 296 GTB and the Ferrari Roma will be joined by the Ferrari 812 Competizione, a limited-edition car based on the Ferrari 812 Superfast but with a 6.5-liter V12 tweaked to produce an additional 30cv for a total power output of 830cv. The 812 Competizione has more dynamic front and rear aerodynamics, improved front and rear track and suspension settings, and a new rear-wheel steering system for faster turn-in and better handling. It also includes a soundtrack that will resonate throughout the Duke of Richmond's castellated flint-faced mansion, reaching even the most elegant of ladies in Canaletto's "Whitehall and the Privy Garden from Richmond House" painting.
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 and the Ferrari SP38 are the other two models making their UK dynamic debut. Both cars are great representations of Ferrari's design language from maestro Flavio Manzoni's pen. The Daytona SP3 is influenced by historic Endurance racers like the 330 P3/4 and the 250 LM. The Daytona SP3 is the third model in Ferrari's "Icona" family of cars, after the spectacular Monza SP1 and Monza SP2 models, which have earned a slew of awards, including "Best of the Best" in the Red Dot Design Awards in 2019.
A private client entered the Ferrari SP38, which was designed to personal specifications as part of Ferrari's One-Off program, which allows customers to, quite literally, build their Ferrari. The SP38 is based on the chassis and engine of the 488 GTB, but it has bespoke bodywork that has been expertly made in carbon fiber, with many of the intricacies and visual treatment of surfaces inspired by the classic F40.
The Ferrari Roma, a sophisticated and stylish 2+2 front-mid-engined V8 coupe that reflects the Italian La Dolce Vita lifestyle, is also part of the Ferrari lineup. Alongside it sits the Monza SP2, another limited-edition Icona model that is inspired by the simple and elegant racing barchettas of Ferrari's past without being a retro-pastiche of a specific model.
The Ferrari 599XX and FXX K, both of which represent two of the most exhilarating and iconic V12 engines ever installed in a car, round out Ferrari's exhibit, giving the 812 Competizione tough competition in the "Best Soundtrack Ever" standings. The XX cars are only designed for track use and have not been homologated for road or race use. This offers Ferrari engineers complete freedom to explore new technology on the track, with the underlying ideas frequently making their way into Ferrari's road cars.
Ferrari's participation at Goodwood would not be complete without the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team and Ferrari driver Marc Gene. The Scuderia Ferrari will drive the Ferrari F2009 from 2009.
Many diehard Ferraristi will bring their own classic racing Ferrari cars to the 75th Anniversary celebrations, which represent some of the biggest events in motorsport history, not just those of the Prancing Horse.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed will happen from June 23 to 26.
