Ford PH goes digital with volunteer activities for Global Caring Month

MANILA: Ford Philippines shifted to virtual volunteer activities in commemoration of its Global Caring Month last September. This is part of its dedication to support and give back to the community through its initiatives amid the pandemic.

The employees of Ford volunteered online in various learning sessions, which are under the Paraisong Pambata program of Gawad Kalinga (GK), which aims to benefit the children from GK Diageo-Yolanda Village in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Through video conferencing, the employee volunteers did activities like tutorials, board games, arts and crafts making, and storytelling to teach on safety and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two digital learning sessions were conducted for more than 50 children from the GK community.

Apart from virtual volunteer activities, Ford employees gave donations such as art and school supplies to the children for utilization in their online classes.

This social responsibility event done yearly sees numerous Ford employees and dealer employees worldwide taking time in engaging in different community initiatives.

Meanwhile, in celebration of the Ford Volunteer Corps’ 15 years of service to communities, Ford Motor Company Chairman Bill Ford and President of Ford Motor Company Fund Mary Culler acknowledged the 15 global “all-star” employee volunteers for their dedication, leadership, and passion in volunteering.

Ford Philippines Government and Corporate Affairs Director Josephine Gonzalez was one of the recipients of this recognition. Gonzalez was the frontrunner for the relationship of Ford with the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Philippines Foundation, GK, and other non-government organization (NGO) partners.

This enabled dealers and employees to be engaged as a corps of volunteers of Ford Philippines to boost programs that concentrate on the four basic necessities, namely, meals, clean water, community housing, and accessible healthcare for school children.

Gonzales said, “In my volunteer work, I see poverty and struggle for survival. But what affects me most is how people help each other and how they live with dignity and self-respect. Seeing this helps me become more compassionate, sensitive and respectful of other people.”

AMCHAM Philippines, the US Embassy, and the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists also acknowledged Ford Philippines in recent years for its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
