Ford PH reveals judging panel, new categories for 21st Henry Ford Awards

MANILA: Ford Philippines announced its panel of judges and new title categories for the 21st Henry Ford Awards (HFA), which recognizes professionals and publications in the automotive media. 

Each year, entries undergo a two-phase judging process with each phase having its own set of judges.

The two phases are comprised of respected members of the academe and professionals in public affairs, corporate communications, design, photography, video production, and digital publishing fields. 

Below is the roster of judges for the 21st HFA:

First phase judges:

Felipe Salvosa - Coordinator, Journalism Program, University of Santo Tomas. 

Dr. Arminda Santiago - Dean, College of Mass Communication, University of the Philippines Diliman.

Sev Sarmenta Professor - Ateneo de Manila University. 

Prestoline Suyat -  Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism, Polytechnic University of the Philippines .

Second phase judges:

Marla Alvarez - Vice President for Sustainability, BDO. 

Owen Cammayo -  Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs, BPI. 

Kenneth Lerona -   Head of Public Relations, Home Credit Philippines. 

Chito Maniago - Vice President for Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, GCash (Mynt – Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.)

Special judges:

Xander Angeles - Professional Advertising and Editorial Photographer.

Armie Jarin-Bennett - Former Executive Vice President for News and Current Affairs and Managing Director, CNN Philippines.

Sid Maderazo - Commercial Director. 

Dino Ocampo - Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy Philippines. 

For the 21st HFA, the new People Category award aims to recognize journalism excellence among editors, writers, and hosts, Ford Philippines said. 

The following awards are part of this exciting new category: Automotive Print Editor of the Year, Automotive Online Editor of the Year, Automotive Video Host of the Year, and Automotive Writer of the Year.

All editors of broadsheet motoring sections and automotive websites, and regular automotive video hosts are automatically nominated for the above awards.

For the Automotive Writer of the Year, online and print editors were tasked to submit their respective nominees. The top-ranked finalists from the submitted questionnaires will go through a panel interview with HFA’s esteemed judges to determine the winner.

The 21st HFA is also introducing three new awards under the Industry Category: Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Article), Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Video), and Automotive Launch Story of the Year.
