Geely PH all set for Monjaro EM-i launch in Oct. 2026

MANILA: Geely is set to launch the Monjaro EM-i in the Philippines as the local subsidiary confirmed the nameplate’s arrival in the country.

In a statement, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) shared that the sport utility vehicle’s (SUV) local debut is scheduled for October 2026, likely during this year’s Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

The Chinese automaker’s local arm said that the upcoming model—positioned as the marque’s Executive Performance Flagship offering—represents its continued expansion of its New Energy Vehicle portfolio and commitment to bringing more advanced mobility experiences to Filipino customers.

As the marque’s newest global D-segment product, the Geely Monjaro EM-i combines a commanding presence, powerful performance, premium comfort, intelligent technology, and plug-in hybrid efficiency “in one sophisticated package.”

The name Monjaro was coined from Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, which symbolizes ambition, strength, and perseverance.

Vehicle specifications

Based on the specifications submitted to the Department of Energy, the Geely Monjaro EM-i comes with the following measurements:

Under the hood is a plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor mounted within the front axle. This setup can dish out:

Power is sent to all four wheels via a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

Matching this is the Intelligent Electric All-Wheel Drive System, which will be introduced for the first time in the Philippines.

Additionally, the Geely Monjaro EM-i will offer four drive modes:

• Pure (full electric)
• Power (full internal combustion engine)
• Hybrid
• Snow

Further, the motor gets its juice from a 29.8-kilowatt-hour battery based on New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standards. On electric power alone, the SUV can travel up to 130 kilometers (km), while its combined range with a full tank of fuel reaches 1,095km.

The Monjaro EM-i is built on Geely’s GEA Evo architecture, which supports flexible space utilization, multi-energy compatibility, advanced safety, and intelligent vehicle technologies.

Inside, the vehicle features the Flyme Auto intelligent infotainment system. It is also the first Geely model overseas to be equipped with the Xingrui Intelligent Large Language Model.

Among its numerous amenities are:

• Dual-zone climate control
• 12.3-inch instrument cluster
• 15.4-inch central screen
• 25.6-inch windshield head-up display
• Wireless smartphone connection

Further, Geely has equipped the model with comprehensive active and passive safety technologies, as well as its Shendun Battery Safety System. Its driver-assistive systems include:

• Adaptive cruise control
• Lane-keeping assist
• Traffic sign recognition system
• Rear collision warning
• 540-degree view monitor

Pricing has yet to be announced but Zigwheels Philippines strongly believes that it might be priced below P2 million should it compete against the likes of the BYD Tang DM-i.
