Geely PH donates surgical masks for medical frontliners

MANILA: Geely Holding Group, through Li Shufu Charity Foundation and its local distributor, Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corporation, donated 20,000 surgical masks to the Department of Health (DOH). This is the automobile company’s way of supporting the health workers of the country in combating the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.

The increasing number of Covid-19-related cases in the country has put the entire Philippines under a state of calamity and the whole Luzon under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Because of this, numerous hospitals are requesting help from the private sector and LGUs since they already lack personal protective gear and medical supplies. Frontliners, especially in the healthcare sector, need these supplies and equipment to handle Covid-19 patients efficiently.

 

Geely, along with other automakers in the Philippines like Volkswagen, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu, continues to participate in reaching out to the frontliners during these challenging times.

Committed to working closely with the government in combatting Covid-19, Geely Holding Group has expressed willingness to provide the necessary medical supplies and equipment needed to control the spread of the coronavirus in the Philippines.

Last January 2020, Geely and the Li Shufu Charity Foundation organized a RMB200 million program to support the control and prevention of Covid-19. According to both parties, the donations will increase based on the extent of the pandemic.

Chairman Li Shufu founded the Zhejiang Li Shufu Charity Foundation in 2006, intending to promote charity and public welfare as well as "harmonious social development." The charitable programs and activities of the foundation have reached over RMB300 million allotted for education, medical assistance, disaster relief, and poverty mitigation.

Since its inception, the foundation has initiated various projects like poverty alleviation, support for education and research, and has entered into agreements with multiple organizations and charities across China. In addition to financing different initiatives, it also directly supported financially-challenged students through scholarship grants. The foundation also created educational opportunities for more than 10,000 students.
